ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Residents of Sandbox Road, Huntums Ghut, are forced to fill existing potholes with small stones to avoid further damage to their vehicles as the condition of the road continues to deteriorate and they are calling for the authorities to address this with haste.

“Where is the representation for this area,” one resident asked when speaking with Virgin Islands News Online recently. “I guess the residents of Sandbox will be given better road conditions just before the next elections,” the fed up resident said.

“The road is still the same deteriorated way. The residents had to put some small pebbles in it. The road is in bad shape. It has been like that almost a whole year,” the man said.

“The shameful part about it is that just before Christmas the guys from Public Works were fixing the main roads and I was saying to them all it will take is couple shovels of the same material. I come through Sandbox road and they never did it… the road is terrible, it is in very very terrible shape,” he emphasised.

Asked about the damage to motor vehicles that the road causes persons in the area, the source said, “When you driving a motor vehicle and you drop into a whole that is more than six inches that will mess up your front end,” the source said.

The man said that Sandbox road gets a lot of traffic because of the number of people that live in the connected areas. “You have at any given time about 20 plus vehicles in that area and that is being modest,” he said.

Efforts to make contact with someone from the Ministry of Works proved futile.

Another example of why the political structure currently in place is a failure. District representatives are counterproductive. There's always districts who get everything and others with nothing. Districts with a visible, acticecrepresentative or one that is,seen election time. The whole thing needs to be at-large.

That pot hole is a pin hole when compared to those on the ridge road. It is a bluddy shame and disgrace when all this is looking us in the face and all the Premier is able to say is how much he has in the reserves. We are inviting more and more tourist to visit the islands only to be greeted by a road net work which is in an advance case of disrepair. I am soo disappointed with this bunch of self centered representatives. Hold on, a better day is coming.

Forced? Isn't this how we are supposed to live? We see a problem developing, we can deal with it, we do just that? Why should Government have to do every damn thing? Ya'll sickening.

So who took this picture, can some one show me where in the Ghut this is? You all looking news to report but in my mind its pure pandering to the VIP fan base. Strupes even if this is true it is nothing compare to when the minster for the 3rd left the main roads in a state and went to pave a perfect road in his district, so wheel anf come again.

You will be fine. This is my point, the road should be repaired but for the small pot hole in this reporting is a joke. There are places in horse path and up the ghut and other places that needs serious attention first. This is not one of them. Stop playing games to gain points. You know better. I will not call you what I think of you.

other areas, residents are filling in potholes with gravel and dirt. They need to drive from great mountain to meyers. Pot holes as wide as your cars, the only way to avoid them is to drive over them and thats in the middle of the road. if you keep on your side heading great mounting, there goes your right suspension. if you keep on your side from great mountain to meyers there goes your left suspension!!!! Lets not talk about the road between sage mountain to carrot/cane garden bay. 1 of the corner is like a one way road. Piece of concrete, piece of tar, crack up.. tar sliding off after the rains. Same roads they have tourist on on the way to long bay, cane garden bay, etc. NDP, VIP all the blasted same

Macnamara roads are the same. Full of pot holes and the Premier lives there. Imagine that! What are they doing for our country. Your roads speak a lot about a country.
