VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- If one had expected to attend the Virgin Gorda Easter Festival Rise and Shine Tramp on April 17, 2017 and return home looking all neat and clean, they had to think again.
Probably one of the most anticipated events of the Virgin Gorda Easter Festival activities was one of splashing of colourful powders, water paints and of course water, which made the event one of fun for both revellers and onlookers.
The Rise and Shine Tramp started well into day light unlike the traditional 4:00 or 5:00 AM move off time. That didn't stop the many people of the British Territory of the Virgin Islands from uniting for the fun of it.
Dominant were the culture of Guyana, Grenada, St Vincent and Dominican Republic.
The procession of revellers started from the Bernice Sprauve Festiville in Spanish Town and headed to the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour in the Valley but was stopped by police in the vicinity of Scotiabank around 8:15 AM after a series of brawls.
But while the music was stopped, the tramping didn't until approximately one hour later at the set end point.
