Hon Walwyn publicly bashes NDP detractors
Hon Walywn, gave the public rebuke—in a social media statement released over the weekend—and used the occasion to publicly chide, the former Ministers and other Executive Members.
The NDP Leader noted that “following internal democratic elections in June (2018), a few members resigned from our party, to say that I am disappointed in their actions is an understatement.”
Personal Agendas
In a subtle swipe however, Hon Walwyn said, “my disappointment comes moreso, for you the people, that elected officials could not put their personal agendas aside and work together to take our Territory out of the disastrous situations we were placed in, by the August floods and a historic two Category-5 Hurricanes in September 2017.”
Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton (AL) is among the high profile NDP members—himself a founder member—to have resigned from the party in recent weeks, to lead a breakaway group called Progressive Virgin Islands Movement.
Meanwhile, speaking to the upcoming General Elections, Hon Walwyn disclosed that while the party’s full slate of candidates for the upcoming General Elections will be released following the Christmas holidays, more than 50 per cent of the Candidates are political newcomers.
The NDP Chairman was adamant, if successful, the NDP would be looking to instill a new way of governing the Virgin Islands (VI).
Challenges
He disclosed that over the past several months, founding members, candidates and key executive members of the party had been engaged in a series of strategic planning meetings to build team spirit and to report on issues facing the country, in order determine a policy plan to, “deliver a better tomorrow for all Virgin Islanders and resident.”
According to Hon Walwyn, “during our deliberations and particularly at the Candidates’ level it became very apparent that the Territory will have a new NDP contesting the upcoming General Elections; the mantle of leadership has been passed to a new generation, more than half of our candidates are new comers to politics.”
He was adamant the NDP newcomers, “come with a wealth of experience in various areas, they have a profound love for these Virgin Islands and we’re looking forward to bringing new energy, new ways of governing and new ideas to resolve the challenges we face as a Territory.”
According to the NDP Chairman, the party is ready to contest the upcoming election and that further work is being done to “fine tune our policy platform and full details will be unveiled in the weeks ahead.”

Ok. What is that new way? The past record of the NDP is abhorrent to Democratic principles and good governance. You had better come convincingly good Mr. Walwyn.
JUST KEEP THE FOCUS.
