Hon Vanterpool running in next elections?
It was alleged that he was ordered not to do so by the United Kingdom (UK) Government, however, the Minister dispelled that as nothing but rumours.
“But you know sometimes you wish you could hear what they say, tape what they say, take them to court and let them prove what they say and if they can't prove what they say Madame Speaker, lock them in jail for as long as we could,” the Works Minister said during his debate of the Recovery and Development Plan during the October 11, 2018 sitting of the House of Assembly.
The Rumours
While complimenting the work of those who worked tirelessly to put the RDP together, the minister sought to address the rumours, especially those said via some radio talk shows, “these good gentlemen put together a plan... Mr Brodrick Penn and his team… They worked hard day and night, they come to us, they went back, they came to us again... They bring it to this house already. They planned out this recovery plan, was laid on the table the ideas that they had about it,” he debated.
He further went on to say, “Madame Speaker I don't like to hear people talk things that are not true”.
“Talking things what they do not know about, I could have gone and listened to them… I could have listened to the radio talk show host Mr whatever his name, Henry or some name who said he get a letter saying that the British government said I can't run again. He ain't show me the letter yet... utter nonsense,” articulated Minister Vanterpool.
I Might Run Again
As he added, “British government said I can't run again… They better be careful or I might run again. I am concerned Madame Speaker that these things we must be careful with.”
He debunked all talks that Ministers of Government are guilty of stealing public monies, “I could have listened to all the says, I could have listened to all who say they thief up money and who does what and all kind of foolishness as if I or the other Ministers can go into some account and take out some money,” he said.
He further addressed allegations surrounding claims that he stole monies related to the Pier Park project, “My grandchildren must have heard that and see that on the blog and see that everywhere... My grandchildren from what they know and everyone that I know around me know how hard I work for what I have. My mother taught me to work hard,” he said, “I don't listen to the rumours and that's of no concern to me.”
Minister Vanterpool recalled, “Many persons come to me Madame Speaker and asking if is true they even asking if I have a boat… Some big nice fancy yacht that they say gone somewhere else. It’s nonsense Madame Speaker, foolishness”.
