Hon. O’Neal ready to carry on work of Opposition Leader
The former Premier of the Virgin Islands and current Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) had indicated on December 20, 2012 during a public address that he was taking some much needed timeout to rest. He had fallen ill on Sunday November 27, 2011 and was admitted to Peebles Hospital but was subsequently discharged.
So far, the stalwart politician has missed three out of four sittings of the second House of Assembly (HOA) but said he is doing much better now and is looking forward to attend the next sitting.
“I want to thank all the people for their prayers and good wishes and I am glad to be back to carry on the work for the people of the Virgin Islands,” Hon. O’Neal told Virgin Islands News Online in an exclusive interview from his home today Tuesday January 24, 2012.
The VIP, headed by Mr. O’Neal, was defeated at the November 2011 polls by the National Democratic Party (NDP) by a 9-4 majority.
