Hon. O’Neal ready to carry on work of Opposition Leader

Hon. O'Neal says he is glad to be back in the Territory to carry on the work of Opposition Leader
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Leader of the Opposition Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE is back in the Territory and has indicated to Virgin Islands News Online that he is feeling much better and ready to carry out his duties as Leader of the Opposition.

The former Premier of the Virgin Islands and current Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) had indicated on December 20, 2012 during a public address that he was taking some much needed timeout to rest. He had fallen ill on Sunday November 27, 2011 and was admitted to Peebles Hospital but was subsequently discharged.

So far, the stalwart politician has missed three out of four sittings of the second House of Assembly (HOA) but said he is doing much better now and is looking forward to attend the next sitting.

“I want to thank all the people for their prayers and good wishes and I am glad to be back to carry on the work for the people of the Virgin Islands,” Hon. O’Neal told Virgin Islands News Online in an exclusive interview from his home today Tuesday January 24, 2012.

The VIP, headed by Mr. O’Neal, was defeated at the November 2011 polls by the National Democratic Party (NDP) by a 9-4 majority.

you choose the right name and just like her u have no sense... a man who falls asleep on the job and who cant control his bodily functions should not be on the work force in the first place. why do you think we have a retirement age in the bvi? RT has served for many years and i must say did sum good along the way but he is too old to cut the mustard. admit it. stop being a empty vessel sarah. ndp or vip, when the bell ring, its time to sit down.

What are we going to do with you when you are old and ailing? I see nothing wrong with still wanting to do for your country at these ages, in whatever capacity. This is one of the last person left with the knowledge that we need and we all need to show some respect. If our scholarship bank wasn't so strong a lot of people would still be here with just a high school or an associate degree. Respect the man. Give thanks for all the wisdom he has contributed to the growth and development of this country. In fact, he's a god fearing man, so no praise needs to be given here. Everyone else take all the praises. In private God will take care. Luv you Uncle Ralph. Keep contributing to your beloved Country.

Very funny, everybody knows real talk is not that stupid. All of our elected officials are locals, come again. Ralph Oneal couldn't even control those loose cannons on his team when he was Premier, what will he do now? He's only here harassing himself because he know what kind of fight will break loose if he step down and appoint any of the 3 stooges to take the mantle. If you really love your country you will be happy that he's sitting where he's sitting!

I honestly think the VIP party as it is now is finished. I can't see them making the kind of come-back like NDP did. NDP would have to screw-up big time for that VIP gang there now to get back in.. Ralph must accept that his sun has set. He would do well to recruit some new blood over the next 6 months and then bow-out gracefully.

after the 2007 elections they said that the NDP waz dead look they recycled deloris, Archie, Ronnie, orlando, kerick, and Mark and they all won. Do not write off the VIP just yet. Politics is funny in the BVI just stay tune...VIP will be back faster than you think. OH by the way, welcome back Mr. O'Neal you were missed...GO GET UM OLD BOY!!!!
