DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI – Mr Paul A. Hewlett, Director of Sports in the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports was not shy in giving credit where it is due as he complimented Third District Representative Honourable Julian Fraser RA for setting a trend for others to follow.

At the time Mr Hewlett was making brief remarks at the opening ceremony of the Hon Julian Fraser/Save the Seed Basketball League in the Third District which got underway on Friday evening August 15, 2014. He was speaking on behalf of Minister for Education and Culture Hon Myron V. Walwyn.

Hewlett speaking very passionately about the importance of the development of the sport of Basketball in the Territory openly challenged others to design and execute leagues similar in nature to that of the Honourable Julian Fraser/Save the Seed Basketball League.

“Hon Fraser has set the tone,” he said as he outlined its importance in youth development for the Territory. In alluding to its significance he suggested that there should be no other basketball league that runs during the same period of that of Hon Julian Fraser’s.

He also alluded to the fact that the Territory has sufficient facilities to take on more basketball leagues and noted the Territory came in for high praise from many countries that were here to participate in the recently concluded Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CAC) championships.

The games being played at the Save the Seed Centre in Duff's Bottom continue to pick up in momentum for the second year on.

Schedule of Games for Sunday, 17 August 2014

4:30 p.m. – Jr. West Gunners vs. Swaggas
6:00 p.m. – Warrias vs. Pilipinas
