Hon Fraser wants 10k limit on election campaign donations
Hon Fraser, formerly of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP), broke away when—via internal election—Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) won the Chairman’s seat above him and has since formed his own political party.
Challenge Issued
Mr Fraser in issuing a challenge to other political parties—with regards to accepting large campaign donations—said it is donation now and corruption later when funds are especially large.
“Progressive United makes no secret its independence from those contributors who give huge sums of monies because of the political corruptions that it breeds in making the payback. We therefore, advocate a $10k cap on all campaign contributions and call on every political party to take this stand,” he said.
In the public address released via social media, yesterday, January 7, 2019, Hon Fraser also said that the PU had its first soft launch, “before a large gathering of supporters in a private setting” where he shared the party's vision.
Tight Lid
“The purpose being to let them know we were preparing for the 2019 General Elections. Prior to that, our logo was mounted on a billboard with our signature “trust” at the round-about,” he said. The Soft launch was done privately on August 23, 2018.
Hon Fraser has managed to keep a tight lid on his candidates thus far, however, his 2019 elections slate is expected to be revealed this Friday, January 11, 2019.
