ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The popular Third District Representative, Honourable Julian Fraser RA, will not only be making history at the tenth sitting of the second session of the second House of Assembly on July 25, 2013 with his much anticipated Motion of No Confidence filed against the National Democratic Party (NDP) Government but will also be alone on the front-line firing questions.

The former Minister for Communications and Works and veteran legislator will be posing some 15 questions, most of them to Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith. Questions will also be directed to rookie Minister for Education and Culture Hon. Myron V. Walwyn.

Questions to Premier Smith

Hon. Fraser, from the Opposition benches, will quiz the Premier on the annual arrears for patient care at the BVI Health Services, Government revenue and expenditure for April, May and June, a request for Treasury Statements for the same months and how much revenue was received from the Financial Services Commission for January 1, 2013 to present.

The Opposition Member will also want to know exactly what the close to $1.7 million recently approved by the BVI Ports Authority Board in regards to the Tortola Port Partners group was for, will be requesting a copy of the contract between the BVI Ports Authority and the Tortola Port Partners and will also want to know what is the current balance of the Government’s reserve funds.

Some of the other topics of Hon. Fraser’s questions include money for the East End/Long Look Sewerage project, whether medical equipment for Peebles Hospital has been tendered and who was the successful tender, among others.

Questions to Minister Walwyn- Do something about  Ellis Thomas Downs

Hon. Fraser will be seeking some answers from the Education and Culture Minister on some very topical issues at Ellis Thomas Downs in Sea Cows Bay. Many horse owners and fans have accused Hon. Walwyn of ignoring the racetrack since he took office and it was transferred from the Premier’s Office under his portfolio.

Hon. Fraser will be seeking answers to the continued malfunctioning of the starting gate and what will Hon. Walwyn do to address the poor racetrack surface conditions.

Transparency very important in this economic climate especially when high spending involved. Vino can you shed some light about this property the government just purchased or in the process of purchasing from Bobby's between Fish Bay and Kingstown to help bail supermarket and UP's out of debt. I would like to know what land cost $10 million dollars. Will this be addressed on Thursday? What purpose was the land purchased for?
