DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- In a surprised announcement the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed Basketball League has stated that the League has been postponed until further notice.

Games were scheduled for this evening, September 27, 2015, however, in a statement issued to the media a few minutes ago the League disclosed that all games in the League have been suspended until further notice.

“The Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Basketball League has announced that all Basketball Games played at the Save the Seed Centre in Duff's Bottom, effective immediately (including the games tonight Sunday 27, September 2015), have been postponed until further notice.

“We regret the inconvenience and will have an announcement this week on the future of the League,” the email stated.

Meanwhile, League Commissioner Rajah A. Smith said he had not received all the details of the postponement and could not give any comment.

In an invited comment, however, Chairman of the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed League Committee Mr Julian Willock said the postponement had to do with concerns of indiscipline among players.

“The directors and co-founders Hon Julian Fraser and Bishop John I. Cline want to do a reassessment of the League because there have been some issues of indiscipline. There have been some issues with the lack of respect for the game, the fans, the referees’ authority, so the directors want to do a reassessment as to where we are and what corrective measures may need to be taken and whether teams in general are serious about playing by the rules and exhibiting good sportsmanship,” Mr Willock told Virgin Islands News Online.

Hon Fraser said: "Games scheduled for tonight will be postponed to a date not yet determined, result of circumstances outside the control of the League."

The League, in its 3rd year of staging, is nearing the playoffs with defending champions Bayside Blazers unbeaten so far. Other teams that seem keen on preventing a Blazers repeat include Warriors, Run it Red, West Gunners and ESplash Brothers.

Please don't move the league to multi sports complex that would send message that the behavior is OK. Plus Myron ain't letting that in his facility.

They announce it postpone just a few hours before it was to start. That is ridiculous and having no respect for the players, coaches, supporters etc. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to organize things.

the amount of fights that almost or (did take place there is ridiculous).. the two times I went, games were cancelled because the players are upset with the referees calls... they act like savages... to add to this..the next time there is a game, they will remain on the team as if to say that they can do what they want and get away with it...i'm surprised the media has not reported on these types of behavior a long time ago... use the money they have and invest it elsewhere..in something that would benefit the country..pls.

the reason y players are disrespectful is because the organization allowed the referees’ authority to call
un-necessary calls towards the player in results of that conflict and un-rudely behavior will occur. anyone in the organization should not have a team nor have anything to do with a team. stay in the committee and fix the rules. the league would be much better if run like so. the west gunners is the team to beat the whole committee is against the team. fraid they must be. and if the they didn't notice the y are the ppl champ. no other team have broken or scored more point than them put together.

There is no reason for grown men to act the way they do. I stop going to those games a long time ago because of all the cursing. They need to just run larger league for the youths and leave the adults to themselves.
