Hon. Fraser: I will be all over you guys like a wet blanket!
He was at the time speaking on youth development at the last House of Assembly Sitting (HOA) that was held on December 21, 2011.
“I don’t want to see the youths just chopping bush or cutting grass especially in the Third District, I want to see them play some decent basketball. I stand behind that Madame Speaker, I mean it, I will be here now and I will be back to talk about it. I got time now I could see things you know. I got a lot of time on my hands. I will be all over you guys now like a wet blanket,” Hon. Fraser told members of the House.
It’s his belief that maintaining sports facilities throughout the Territory plays a large part in youth affairs.
To hammer home his point, the 3rd District representative argued that a number of youths are in jeopardy of getting lost, adding “They congregate in places that are intended for their upkeep and advancement, but the places are basically non-functional. Basketball courts, softball fields, if we don’t maintain these facilities its no use building them.”
Hon Fraser further stated that he had a close look at a basketball court “the other night and I said my God we actually built it but no one came back. No one came back Madam Speaker, and the only thing when anyone comes by will say is that the Government has abandoned its young people.”
To this end, he appealed to Minister for Education and Culture, Hon. Myron Walwyn, to spend his first $500,000 down in Sea Cows Bay to show that he is serious about the youths in the Territory.
