ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3) has vehemently dismissed allegations that he had a hand in registering persons from outside the Third District so that they will be able to vote in that district.

He was responding to a caller into Wednesday night's March 4, 2015 VIP Let's Talk aired on ZBVI 780 AM.

The caller alleged that persons from the VIP are registering persons in the Third District even though they were from the Sister Islands.

"I understand that you or your team are registering persons who are not from the Third District in that district. I have been reliably informed that young people from the Sister Islands are being coerced or tricked into registering in the Third District,” said the caller.

However, Honourable Fraser dismissed these accusations as false. “I don't think that is possible, because what has always happened is that the Supervisor of Elections, even now more than ever, is scrutinizing these applications for registration and I haven't got a clue as to what you are talking about when you say that, because I am not party to that.”

Moderator of the talk show Carvin Malone, the VIP’s President, jumped in at this point, saying that such behaviour is an offence.

“It is an election offence to register someone in the district that they are not entitled to be registered in, so we have to make sure. After 44 years, I think the rules are quite clear," he said.

The youth group is registering young/new voters for all districts, not just only for the 3rd.

I thought it was Numero Siete. Anyway that is part of the election tricks or gimmicks. Everyone tries it a times and when it rebounds on them they cry fraud. The wind of change is passing through the region so perhaps this is VIP turn again or perhaps NDP gonna stand its ground

Does not a resident have to show proof that 1) he/she is qualified to vote in the VI, and 2) that he/she meets the minimum residency requirements to register to vote in a district. Is not the Supervisor of Election responsible for ensuring that all registration requirements are met? If so how can an electoral candidate register people illegally? And if he/she does, the law provides remedy for illegal action. Additionally, proven evidence of bribery and fraud should be prosecuted. Nonetheless, the supervisor of election must be neutral in enforcing election laws( not saying that current holder is).

Moreover, Virgin Islanders living in the USVI and elsewhere abroad are entitled to vote in local elections, having meet all requirements.

All the silly set up calls by the NDP to get a headline will not work this time. They have been the worst government in history in the BVI and we call on the governor to call the commission of inquiry into the corruption at the ports project

Talk bring talk. Tell them to check last election and see how many left their district to register in the 6th just to vote for the lady with the purse. And the same happened in the 7th and 8th.

NDP make things happen- you all blind- be fair--open your eyes and you all will see.---my one concern with NDP. is-Do we really need these boards, "Hospital / TRC ".?- I really don`t see the benefits-- just giving plenty people plenty power and the possibility of abuse and corruption. This the alternative, get a Czar / administrator attached to each Ministry. (like what Myron is wisely and rightly doing) Try something new--VIP should have done that--VIP less
