CAPOONS BAY, Tortola, VI – Some 20 First District youths commenced a month long session of training that will be conducted by Toastmasters International Branch BVI with a view to allowing them, through better public speaking and leadership, to be prepared for the future.

The session opened with a formal ceremony at the Leonora Delville Primary School in Capoons Bay yesterday November 8, 2015.

In giving a charge to the youngsters, First District Representative Honourable Andrew A. Fahie urged them to take the training seriously as it is a coveted opportunity.

“This training will allow the first cohort of 20 First District youths to be equipped with skills including, but not limited to, time management, public speaking, and leadership among many others.”

He noted that after the one month of training he is confident that each First District youth who attends will be further equipped and trained to take up their rightful place in the earth and make each of them a better communicator and leader.

“Today is a continuation of my efforts as your First District Representative to assist in preparing youth to be better persons and in preparing them in a better way for the future.”

He told the youth gathered at the opening ceremony that the future belongs to the prepared and hence the theme for the initiative “Preparing the Future for the Future,” he said.

“I urge each of you to take this training very seriously... attend all four of the sessions each Sunday with the first one being given today Sunday November 8, 2015,” said Honourable Fahie.

He told them that normally training such as the sessions that they will be a part of is very expensive. “So cherish this opportunity that you’re given and make the best use of it.”

Honourable Fahie said it is his desire that this training be expanded to include young people from all the districts so that the future of the VI can be assured.
