ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – First District Representative Hon. Andrew A. Fahie is among several persons expected to be honoured when the League of British Virgin Islanders hosts its 15th Annual Norwell Harrigan Memorial Scholarship Luncheon on November 3, 2013 at the Sugar Bay Resort and Spa in St Thomas, USVI.

The other persons to be honoured for this year’s annual event are Mrs Maria Ayala, Mrs Stephanie Benn and Mr Dion Parson.

The group expressed pride in announcing this year’s honourees. “They have worked tirelessly for the good of the communities in which they have served and continue to make significant contributions through their commitment and dedication,” a statement from the organisation read.

When contacted about the award, Hon. Fahie said he would like to thank the League for considering him for the award. “This is a privilege and an honour and first of all I would like to thank God for giving me the strength to represent the people not only politically, but in other avenues over the years.”

He thanked his family members, people of the First Disctrict and all his friends for their continued support over the years in being able to help the community in any way.

The First District Representative said he did not do any work in order to be recognised publicly but was grateful that he was recognised by the group for his service.

“I will continue to serve in the best interest of the people and make sure God’s will be done,” he added.

The League of British Virgin Islanders is a non-profit organization founded by visionaries to bring together [British] Virgin Islanders and Belongers in a social and cordial setting.

According to the statement, the most important goal was to link the two Virgin Islands, positively impacting their communities and strengthening the inter-relationship. The League today continues to follow the same goals by offering community assistance and providing assistance to Virgin Islanders through education.

The Norwell Harrigan Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Norwell Harrigan. Among other achievements, he joined the then College of the Virgin Islanders in 1968. Dr. Harrigan became the Associate Director and subsequently director of the Caribbean Research Institute before retiring in 1984.

The scholarship offers financial assistance for two years to British Virgin Islanders, who have graduated from a secondary school of the British Virgin Islands or the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, to attend the University of the Virgin Islands.

According to the group, this annual scholarship continues to offer financial aid for several previous and present students in their pursuit of higher education. The proceeds from the event will go towards the scholarship fund.

Congratulations to all. They deserve it. Hon. Fahie was my math teacher in High School & always had a good heart & would go the extra mile to ensure his students function at their best. I thank him for the many free afternoon tutorial classes he gave us. I am a better person today because of him.

I am proud of my BVI people. All of them are deserving. I know Fahie all my life & while I dont always agree with him I can honestly say that he has one of the kindest, caring & forgiving heart for any person that I have ever known. He is a positive & strong man in many respects. Congratulations sir to you & to all being honoured.

Go to hell. Poor leadership mess up the VIP not Fahie. Each of who lost needs to look in the mirror & see who really made themselves & the VIP loss. It certainly ain't Fahie so the sooner some of you stop talking that piddle the better for the us ALL & the VIP. Congrats fahie & don't mind some of these crooks.

You see why this country can't get any better. All some of you think on is politics rather than country. Eileen just got honoured & not a man mentioned that she got it because she is an NDP so why you gone into politics. Also some who are being honoured are full NDP so what you saying doesn't make sense on all fronts.

I am so tired of some of the fools in the VIP or not who want to blame Fahie for the party's loss in 2011. The same way Ralph lead then he leading now & not a man blaming him & this I can't understand. Doctor Doolittle is the only person who didn't know he was going to lose. The lady in the east was the laziest Minister & representative ever who only excel in the past through giving excellent speech but followed them up by doing nothing. The At large team with exception of Irene had no clue what they were doing. All this due to poor leadership. Don't forget the smooth talker from the second who would wine & dine with you & still sell you out in a heart beat. All this & more but yet some persons want to blame Fahie for the loss up to this day. Try get with the programme & leave Fahie alone.

The quicker you go look for the real skeletons & stop trying to paint FAHIE black the better for you. We tired of people like you who always trying to put down FAHIE. Stick around, you will soon find out where the real skeletons in the closet are & it ain't in Fahie's closet. You just a fool & a hater but you can't keep a good man down.

You had to try to dirty FAHIE with your negative post. Well most of these NDP fellows don't have skeletons in their closets/cupboards but rather huge bodies with how much corruption they are into so you obviously calling good bad & bad good. FAHIE is a good man & a regular man that cares about the people. You obviously want to see him fail but we reverse every curse & foul words & negative blogs in your post about Andrew A. Fahie & we send it back to sender in the Blood of Jesus Christ. See you in jail now with your NDP friends.
