Hon Fahie knocks NDP culture of 'cha-ching'

BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI – Senior member of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) and First District candidate Honourable Andrew A. Fahie continues to ponder why the Government has called a snap election but said that he wasn’t worried.

Further he said that the other side, the National Democratic Party (NDP), is trying to paint the Chairman of the VIP black with their criticisms and character assassinations. He was speaking on May 20, 2015 in Baughers Bay during the VIP meeting featuring Sixth District candidate Elvis 'Juggy' Harrigan.

“They hope that this snap elections will go by so fast…paint our leader black. Come after Fahie. Say our At Large weak, and just continue to run their mouth and run their mouth,” he said.

He said if you don’t know who you are and whose you are, this Government will make you feel like you’re nobody. “Once you’re not supporting them you will have to be careful that they don’t label you black in this country,” he said.

But he said the VIP has come to clean up the political climate and is going green.

“Because on June 8 is your day when you will vote the entire VIP slate. June 8 is not a long wait so you my people keep the faith. Crunch the numbers and you will see that the VIP is your team that will allow you to be free,” he rhymed.

Cha-ching!

In his usually engaging style of delivery, Honourable Fahie said that cha-ching, cha-ching were the words the NDP once used to calculate money to win the last election.

“But now it is clear that the use of their cash register and calculator is rare. Why a snap election is being asked by young and old. Not even an explanation we are being told. But my research has unfolded that cha-ching, cha-ching must be told,” he said.

He pondered the snap election was to hide the fact that vendors to the Government are yet to be paid $19 million in unpaid invoices.

“Was the snap election because they wanted to avoid explaining to you the people why they have $61 million in the cruise pier with only $41 million to pay for it leaving only $20 million in monies that they don’t have to pay for the extension? Cha-ching!” he said.

He went on to cite lots more examples as to why the Government might have opted for the snap election with a view to not having to explain to the people why certain decisions were taken.

Honourable Fahie said that more and more people cannot pay their bills and are tossing by night about how they are going to look after their families. He said that people can’t even go to St Thomas to shop because of the increases in the fees on both sides.

What are VIP's and Andrew's plan for the Territory. That's what the voters want to know. This reminds me of a man trying to get a girl by telling her how bad the other guy is but never saying what he is bringing to the table.

We can all tell who dont go out to the VIP Rallies because you all come out here about No PLANS. They have outlined a bunch of plans for the youth, education (building a junior high), encouraging entrepreneurship (lowering taxes and increasing incentives), and even building a 3rd pillar of the Economy (Maritime affairs)! STOP this stupid attack about no plans

@ Yawn, please remove your colored lenses. If the VIP doesn't mention another plan, the Marine Academy by itself is huge. There are at least 3 major marine operations in the BVI. I'm talking about the ones that have at least a100-ton lift.
One lady owns her own business where she prepares and paints the bottom of the boats/yachts. Another owns/operates an engine Dealership and repair business. Up in North Sound the build boats from scratch; recently exporting a passenger size boat to Anguilla. The jobs done by the folks there, (men and women) include marine electricians, fiberglass specialists, professional painters, hull workers. Then there are guys with Captain Licenses with the ability to deliver a boat, power/sail, to any destination in the world. A Marine Academy is no sma

Again, I'm appealing to you die hard and blinded supporters of whatever side you are on; Pep, Ndp, Independents.
Lets give Jack or Jill their jacket..and also call a spade a spade. If an idea is good for and advances our country, its
also good for all of us.

I'm putting out a challenge: For every time any of the NDP candidates mentions any of these words: Richard Brandson, Jarecki, David Johnson, "Water-Rights, Seabed-Rights, Prickley Pear Island, Oil Nut Bay, Fishermen's Grounds, Beach Access (i'll stop there); I'm good for $100.00.

@You need to stop yawning because @ every VIP rally they have stated what the are going to do for the country. Who you trying to fool with this blog. Alvera covering some benches Bellevue was a necessity for the country. I ain't see you blog about the food handouts for the Bellevue boys. Stop blogging and worry about not getting your handouts for the next 4 years.

I wish someone would list all these tax raises they keep on about. Apart from ferry departure tax I can't think of one. Water hasn't changed. Basic electricity unit hasn't changed. Import duty hasn't changed. Postal rates same. House and land taxes same. Vehicle and driving licenses same. So where are the rises that are so onerous please?

I can think of one more that affects us all. A passport previously cost $40. NDP government raised the fee to $100 and added an additional $25 calling it a processing fee. Need I say more. I wonder what other ridiculous fee they will add.

If Dancia Penn was presently the leader of VIP, it would have definitely been all VIP----Don't you all be on the streets?--eight out of ten people want NDP out--nine out of ten have an issue with VIP leadership, its real talk.
    • voter (22/05/2015, 07:16) Like (1) Dislike (1) Reply
The truth is if VIP can reinvent themselves in a Fraserless and Fahieless state they stand the best chance of beating NDP. NDP is vulnerable, after all they called a "snap" elections, but VIP have been powerless to capitalize on their weakness. A lot of voters are uncomfortable with NDP and some of their directions but are more uncomfortable with the VIP's leadership and slate. A fresh clean cohesive VIP with strong candidates would have surely beat the NDP. Alas the current VIP leadership and the slate will probably see them out in the wilderness for another 4 (or 3 1/2) years.
