ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI: Opposition Leader and Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) again lashed out at the National Democratic Party (NDP) over its poor Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) Plan and equally poor financial management.

His latest scolding came during a speech made at the October, 23, 2018 sitting of the Virgin Islands’ House of Assembly (HoA) where the opposition leader notes that the sins of the NDP will not follow the VIP if elected to Government in 2019.

“This plan presented by the NDP Government for the Recovery and Development Board, is the best case scenario by Dr D. Orlando Smith and his NDP Government at this time, today Madame Speaker, I stand to let this honourable house at the people of the Virgin Islands know that the sins of the NDP Government will not follow the next elected government,” Hon Fahie said.

Reckless Financial Management

Since its inception, the Opposition Virgin Islands Party (VIP) has expressed concerns in relation to the RDA Plan, which was brought before the House of the Assembly (HoA) by the NDP.

Hon Fahie had noted in the past that he is unclear as to what exactly the RDA is responsible for and this time he also called out the NDP over what he deems reckless financial management.

“Soon we will be in a position to save our beloved Virgin Islands from the reckless financial management of the NPD, misuse and misappropriation of public funds, totally against the Financial Management Act and protocols for effective financial management, both of which were passed by the NDP Government,” he said.

Han Fahie, however, remains confident that the VIP party will win the upcoming elections and take the country back from NDP rule even as their RDA Plan leaves much to be desired.

“It is time for us to take back our country, we have voted and passed the RDA in this honourable house already… the bill clearly states that there must be a plan… the NDP has now given us their best plan, we all know elections must be held anytime from today, up until June 2019… then our people’s voices will be heard,” he said.

Why does this circus continue, the BVI government individuals be they NDP or VIP have both proven to be incapable of governing which is the reason for the RDA in the first place. All this hot air over local government wanting influence over the RDA expenditure is absolutely ridiculous, it's a total farce that the islanders should understand. In next years elections the people should consider a third option to the two current parties, and that is for the UK to come in and govern, they could not do a worse job.

Andrew please go take a seat somewhere with your lame tired boring self. Just the thought of you being Premier is a energy drainer. You can continue to fool the people who can't think for themselves or have knowledge of what is going on or what day of the week it is but you can't fool me.
