CARROT BAY, Tortola, VI – First District Representative Honourable Andrew A. Fahie along with his First District Committee will be holding their first annual back to school motivational session for students of the District on September 28, 2014.

During the session slated to be held at the Abraham Leonard Community Centre in Carrot Bay at 3:00 pm the public will be updated on how the homework programme has been functioning since the last school year and the plans for this school year.

“Due to the need expressed by a number of parents who realised that their children needed extra help in their school subjects but could not afford tutorial help, the First District homework programme was created,” said Hon Fahie in a comment to this news site today September 23, 2014.

He said that the future of the programme will also be discussed. “Also a motivational speech by a young person from the District will be delivered to motivate our youth, parents and teachers to never give up this school year despite the challenges…to turn those challenges into opportunities for the present and future generations to benefit,” he said.

“I am in politics so to some, whatever I do will be viewed as political but my aim is to help everyone fulfill their God given purpose for existing and this course of action falls directly within that mandate,” he said.

“The best efforts are those that benefit others. This initiative will benefit our First District youth so that they can become independent and fulfil their purpose in life through a sound education,” said Hon Fahie.

During 2013, a few parents in the First District had contacted Hon Fahie on a regular basis stating that they recognized that their children needed help in a specific subject area but due to financial challenges, they could not afford the needed tutorial help for their children.

According to him, some parents explained that due to their work schedule it was difficult for them to give the help that their children needed with their homework and studies.

this program started in Jan 2014?! How can you say Fahie has been doing this for YEARS? How come he only now TRYING to seem active in the last two to three years? This is not sincere at all and shows lack of true representation.

I have a family member in the First District Home Work Programme & they sing the praises of this programme all the time & so do their parents. This is a good thing that Fahie continues to do.

I am not a Fahie fan but whether you like him or not, you must be fair to him that he is consistent in his efforts for years especially with the youth. No one can legitimately prove that wrong. Keep up the effort.

Not trying to hate but is the teachers or persons helping with this homework program getting paid or is it volunteer work??? I jus trying to find out if there is a bill and if so who paying it? One thing I know you like greasing the pockets of ur district people but please dnt do it at the expense of the kids with politics. It seem like nobody understands volunteering the services anymore everybody looking money.
