Hon Alvera Maduro-Caines goes green! Joins VIP Gov’t
This was announced by Premier Fahie at a press conference aired live on ZBVI 780AM minutes ago, January 20, 2020 and subsequently confirmed by Hon Maduro-Caines.
According to Premier Fahie, Hon Maduro-Caines has bought into the vision of the VIP Government and has chosen to join the VIP to help it push its agenda for national development.
Contemplation & Prayers
Hon Maduro-Caines told reporters she decided to join the VIP after much deep contemplation and prayer over the last weeks as well as speaking to some of her constituents, who have supported her decision.
She said she tendered her resignation to the National Democratic Party (NDP) today, January 20, 2020.
The female legislator said she considered the vision by Hon Fahie in the 2020 Budget Address and believes it is a plan deserving of full support for all patriotic citizens.
According to Hon Maduro-Caines, she has seen the progress of the VIP Government in the last 11 months despite obstacles and was particularly impressed with the programmes that help industry training and academic qualifications for Virgin Islanders.
“I believe that is the direction our Territory must be headed."
Meanwhile, the Virgin Islands Party, which won the general elections in February 2019, now has 3 female legislators, with Hon Maduro-Caines joining Junior Ministers, Hons Shereen D. Flax-Charles and Sharie B. DeCastro.
It also means the VIP Government holds 9 of the 13 seats in the Virgin Islands House of Assembly (HoA).
More details to follow.

Those were probably in the spoiled ballots. You sound dumb enough to spoil a ballot so take a seat.
As time goes by there will just be a bunch of loose ends with him tripping over himself. No clear sensible direction nothing thought out, massive loud noise up and down and a fib here and there to cover tracks...
Stop wearing it or stop letting it wear you.
Good move dear lady, God is with you and the people of the 6th.
Much blessings
The things done in the 10 months in the 6th district were left undone for over 8 years. The fisherman dock, the road in Johnson Ghut, the work in Baugher's Bay, the youth programs and the historic record budget 2020. I agree with you who can't see will wonder.
Moreover, Hon Maduro-Caines (D-5) was elected to represent the people of the 5th District. IMO she sees crossing the floor as the best opportunity to bringing more services to her district. It is all about self-interest. To the victor goes the spoils. In the West Minister model, though it is despicable, opposition members struggle to bring services to their districts. Constituents in opposition districts exercised their constitutional/democratic right to elect a rep of their choosing and should not be punished for it. Territorial resources should go where the greatest needs are. But politics is politics. Was it Churchill that says politics is worse than war. Wow! Nuff said. Wish the Hon Maduro-Caines well.
Marlon isn’t disappointed. He is actually envious that she did what he couldn’t do. He was treated like her for 8 years to the detriment of his people by his same NDP Government. Those of us with common sense can’t really take Marlon and anything he says seriously. One of these days Marlon will wake up and realise he is not a true politician and he is not truly for the people.
