ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- At a special sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at the Road Town Police Station yesterday afternoon, February 8, 2017 in which the media was disallowed, Earl ‘Bob’ Hodge and Roberto ‘Tico’ Harrigan were remanded to prison.

The two men were arrested on February 7, 2017 on warrants issued on behalf of the United States Justice Department.

It is not clear at this time who was the magistrate that presided over the special sitting and unconfirmed reports are that the magistrate was brought in from overseas.

Bail to be sought

This news site was informed that attorneys for the men are expected to make a bail application on Friday, February 10, 2017.

On December 22, 2014 the High Court of the Virgin Islands had quashed an extradition order for Mr Earl ‘Bob’ Hodge, Carlston Beazer, Chad Skelton and Roberto ‘Tico’ Harrigan.

It is not clear if arrests warrants are out for Mr Beazer and Mr Skelton.

Justice Vicki Ann Ellis’ 51-page ruling summed up her decision against former Governor William Boyd McCleary, saying the court found that there was no independent judgment exercised by him (McCleary) in making his decision to issue an extradition order.

The four men were wanted by US authorities for their alleged involvement in a drug ring.

Meanwhile, on September 12, 2016 the wife of Mr Hodge, horse racing legend and businesswomen Mrs Violet 'Letty' Hodge was sentenced to six years in prison and fined $100,000 after being charged for conspiracy to import cocaine.

People wonder why the other two didn't get arrested, lol think who started to talk after being pressured. I guess they got a better deal to give up the two or else. Make sense right?

Based on the story they were small fries, why would they want them? The US want the real big men who dealt directly with the king pins. Small fries should be handled by local jurisdiction.

Can some explain some of us who do not understand the law. These people were arrested before so why arrest them again for the same crime and they have to find money for bail again. Some thing here is very fishy the US want them so bad they are going to the////// to ////them what else they can do with them. Why the BVI cannot keep them here.

In that case Tico should not have been arrested. He is an even smaller fry. Something fishy about this whole thing

Fine what? Being incarcerated far away from these shores, seeing snow probably for the first time in DECADES; fine my black a$$! At this late stage of his life he's going to do some rough time in a foreign jail where none of the other inmates give a duck about who he is! Just another foreigner doing time is what he will be. If he decides to start ratting out his accomplices (like Juice did) he might get a few years knocked of his sentence - remember the North Carolina days of the Island Boyz cartel - well uncle Sam sure hasn't forgotten all involved! Then he might be moved all over the grand ole' USA and his 'visitors' will have to follow this old man. So ends another chapter in one of the most notorious in BVI history - whom will he take down with him if any for a reduced sentence? Affiliates must be shook and wondering if they are next on the DOJ hit-list for 2017 and beyond!

A timely reminder and sensible reason to not take the Federal arm of the USA lightly. When you fall underr their radar, there is no expiration date. Pay attention! The BVI would be jack donkeys to have key politicians with a FBI connection involved in a Governmental capacity. Panama Papers would be a whimper compared to the result of electing a potential threat to anFBI opportunity at revealing to the International Community the shady side of A Gov official.
