ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The House of Assembly (HoA) will meet again on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at its Chambers in Road Town, the Capital City.

It will however, be another historical moment in the Virgin Islands (VI), legislative assembly, when for the first time since 2011, there will be five Opposition Members and three political parties in the Opposition.

As of publication time, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1), remains Opposition Leader and he is one member Virgin Islands Party (VIP).

There is also Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3), formerly of the VIP but who now heads his new breakaway group called Progressives United (PU).

Increased Opposition

Opposition new comers will be fired Ministers, Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton (AL) and Honourable Archibald C. Christian (AL).

The two former Ministers will also be joined in the opposition benches by Honourable Melvin M. Turnbull (R2), who resigned from the National Democratic Party (NDP) and is now with the new NDP 2, a breakaway group, called the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM), purportedly headed by Hon Skelton.

The ruling NDP now has a mere seven seats, as Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr the Honourable D. Orlando Smith (AL), fights to keep his government  from collapsing.

The Order Paper for the sitting has not been made public, but the public will be watching to see how the new Opposition members will be reacting towards the Government they were once a part of.

It is unclear when a Budget Address date will be set since, ‘all the public is concerned about is survival and new General Elections.’

The HoA will be carried live on 90.9 FM from 10:00AM. You can also follow the coverage live online www.cbnvirginislands.com

there needs to be a new deputy speaker for the house: each remaining member on the government side holds a ministry: therefore we need the former junior minister back as deputy speaker or the 3 member(those in favor...the eyes have it!!!)

Is Me Skelton, as the leader of the largest opposition party, now entitled to be the leader of the opposition?

What wrong switch are you talking about? We all thought Frazer was a bad person because he acts like he knows it all, but to be honest Frazer has principle and stands up for our country.
The other leader of the green team is about self.
Ask any contractor who worked with him in the past and you will see why Mitch will not go in the Green Ditch with him. Mitch has serves his people well and stood up for what is right.

Funny how the two break away parties had the nerve to use the word "progressive" in their names. Both Progressives are DOA. NDP is finished. I hope VIP can hold it together.....or we might just need mother England to step in for real.

If they are smart, they would all merge under Fahie because they all have a common arch nemesis!

The sad thing about all of this, NDP has played around with a lot of people lives, demote, remove, suspend, and replace just to carry out their duty agenda! And now they’re doing it to their own! Wow!

Need I remind them, that these people have family and their antics can only go as far as the forth term of every election where they continue to steal and use tax payers money to bribe the young people!

All opposition members need to join and force for elections after we hear what is stated in the Pier Park debacle! It’s not personal, True NDP and VIP fans for them to merge! Together they can trump this beast! The man for the 7th needs to switch as well! We all know you’re not for wall win!

    People stay woke!

I know the NDP has their issues with accountability and transparency; what I hate most is traitors. those who sit with you for years doing wrong and encouraging wickedness, now turn around and demonize you and call you evil.
Such TRAITORS will never be honest patriots. Don't let them full you they are the same old thieves in a new building.
