HLSCC downs Agriculture Dept. in Dominoes and Softball

HLSCC's domino domination over Agriculture continues to grow, with yet another victory in 2012. The College also took the Softball Crown when the Dept. of Agriculture failed to show up at game time.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - H. Lavity Stoutt Community College last weekend beat the Department of Agriculture in both softball and domino events in their annual sports competition to commemorate Farmers’ Week celebrations.

The first event was a softball game, scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday February 11 on the College grounds. Although the College fielded a full team ready to play, the Agriculture Department never showed up and forfeited the game.

HLSCC coach Geoffrey Brooks said it was very unusual that the Agriculture players did not show up, since they have always won the event in the past. “Perhaps they were afraid that we had a stronger team this year, which was in fact the case” he said.

The following day, Sunday February 12, at around 4:30 p.m., the HLSCC Domino Team faced off the Agriculture Department under the tent at the Farmers’ Week Fair and demolished them with a score of 2012-985.

This is the fourth successive year that the “friendly rivalry” has been taking place.

It originally began when the Department of Agriculture challenged the College to a softball match. Prior to this year, the College never won softball, and to date, Agriculture still has not won dominoes.
