PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI – It was in the year 2012 that President of the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College Dr karl Dawson had set out on a mission to have the institution become accredited. Today, according to the Acting President Dr Bryan Penn, the college is closer to achieving that goal.

In his address to the graduating class of 2014-2015 on Thursday June 11, 2015 Dr Penn said the college is currently awaiting the Middle States Commission on Higher Education’s decision regarding its accreditation bid.

“The college has submitted a comprehensive self-study report that highlights its compliance with the fourteen best practice-oriented standards. A team of peer-reviewers visited the college and interviewed the Board of Governors, and members of the Administration, faculty, staff and student populations…the contents of our self-study report, and the supporting evidence we provided,” Dr Penn reported.

He also noted that it was after comprehensively scrutinising the college that the visiting team concluded that the college appears to be in compliance with all 14 standards. They also provided recommendations and suggestions for improvement.

“Next, the Middle States Commission will independently review all evidence and findings, then decide on the college’s accreditation status, later this month,” he said.

According to Dr Penn, looking towards academic year 2015/2016, much work will be done relative to the HLSCC Strategic Plan, and the Middle States Commission’s Recommendations and Suggestions.

He added that the college’s curriculum will be revisited to make sure that it is as effective as possible and more programmes will be brought on stream as the growing needs of students and community demand.

Accreditation

Accreditation is a process of external quality review used by higher education to scrutinize colleges, universities and higher education programmes for quality assurance and quality improvement.

Accreditation status indicates that a college, university, institution, or programme meets the standards of quality set by the accreditation organisation, in terms of faculty, curriculum, administration, libraries, financial well-being, and student services.

The HLSCC was granted the status of Candidate for Accreditation in June 2012 by the Middle State Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), in Philadelphia, USA.

People walking around this country like state men well dress with suit and tie and suit and bow tie fooling 80% of this population that they are the best people to manage this country, but every rope has its end, these people are nothing more than DEMONS in human form, this country needs a lot of praying from true religious people. These DEMONS has a well organize system in this country where the have control of every aspect of our lives, they have the government, the media, the printing press, they infiltrate and tainted all our businesses with their presents, the have their own church where the indoctrinate the people into their cult society, you have a certain pastor who indulges in all sort of promiscuous and homosexual activity, they are in the loge, the rotary and every where you can think off. These are the people that are molding the life of our youths and dictating who will rise and who will fall in this country. We heve become a nation of DEMONS.

Wrong word "thief". The correct term is "bought". They had extreme buying power and used it. I am sure many people voted against their own conscience. It even had bags and bags of free ganjah passing out I heard. The NDP is sophisticated even at this. They know if something is not working try something else. They gave out loads of money, jobs and promises of house and land. Sorry VIP people really want material things and you had nothing to offer.

I am certain if your check the Registry you will discover that the Minister for Education was born at Peebles Hospital just like Karl was. Is it a crime to finish your education in another country? It should be mandatory for all you small minded idiots to leave the BVI and spend a year living in another country so you can truly appreciate what you have here in the BVI.
