‘HL Stoutt united the people’ – Hon Julian Fraser RA
He was speaking at the annual wreath laying ceremony held yesterday March 2, 2015 at the Capoon's Bay cemetery, West End, Tortola.
Giving his reflections at the ceremony, Honourable Fraser said that he remembered being called to a meeting by the late H. Lavity Stoutt who was about to embark on a political campaign some years ago. He said that when he arrived at the venue for the meeting, he noted that there were persons from different political leanings there.
“All of the people that you see here today from the two major political parties were in that room. There was no VIP and National Democratic Party (NDP)…we were all together at that time. He was a uniter. He united our people and we must try to do that today,” said Honourable Fraser. “We can have our differences but we can agree to disagree respectfully,” he said.
“I stand here as the leader of the same political party that [he led] and I want to try to do the same thing, to unite our people despite political differences,” said Honourable Fraser.
He congratulated the family of H. Lavity Stoutt knowing that being in the political spotlight is very challenging.
Others gave tribute following the wreath-laying, including Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1) and Territorial At Large Representative Honourable Archibald C. Christian.

First of all, poor Lavity is turning in his grave upon hearing you are comparing Fraser to him. Lavity did bring the people together and VIP & NDP have torn us apart.
