ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Government services are slated to resume operations next week, Monday, May 4, 2020.

The various departments; however, must first be inspected and given clearance.

Deputy Governor Mr David D. Archer Jr stated that just like how the private sector has to meet certain health and safety standards in this COVID-19 pandemic, the public sector too must meet the mark.

He informed, via Facebook live stream on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, that all heads of departments received a checklist depicting the requirements, such as the six feet social distancing and sanitisation rules put in place to prevent the spread of Novel Coronavirus, which causes COVID-19.

“So they had homework in advance, so they would need to work towards that checklist, to ensure that they have all the things on that list and you have to have 80 per cent to be able to open on that day just as the private sector,” he said.

Inspections underway

In the meantime, inspections for government departments are underway, he said.

“We inspected about five yesterday, today 17 will take place, and so by Monday, we will have those organisations ready to begin. We have a list of 22, but I am hoping to have about 35 ready for Monday.”

The Deputy Governor stated that some of the government departments expected to commence operations by Monday, May 4, 2020, include the Labour, Immigration, Inland Revenue, Trade and Traffic departments.

He added: “The other departments that are more administrative will come on a little bit slower, but we are dealing with high impacting client-based departments first. So by the end of next week, we want to have all of our departments ready and open.”

@ Jamdown: Imagine this! Imagine this!! And then we wonder why BVI people speak poorly about the so called "island man"? Pleaaseeeee! However, in all this I will still encourage BVI people to be good to all men. But you, Mr. Jamdown, God will deal with you. Imagine in your first statement you mentioned that they should open Western Union so you can send money "back ah had" and in the same breath say that you only pay your Land lord 1/2 Rent for over a year and calling the man "Foolish". Imagine this ....Imagine this!!! May God help us. Stop giving the BVI people reasons to speak poorly about "island people"

I agree, don’t open Western Union or Money Gram until the 7% becomes active. Use the stash you were sending home to build house and pay the landlords that you owe.

They don’t like him because of who he married. She is not local. She will never be accepted as one of us. She will never hold the title of First Lady over a local.

Mighty funny how they stash their money to send home and they crying about they can’t pay rent. I guarantee you. if Money Gram or Western Union open today, the lines would be wrapped around the corner with the same people who is lying about they can’t pay rent sending the money to their Country. Those people are slicker than slick. It is time you start paying back the money that you have been fleecing the BVI out of for the past few years. 7%. It is.

My, my, my. People wake up, wake up and stop the hate, these things are warning to us to come together and live together, why so much hate against each other. I have no problem if island people want to send money where they come from, it’s there money and they work hard for it, once they take care of their responsibilities here then they can do whatever they want with the rest of their money. Let’s remember that the BVI is not in isolation we are all part of what is taking place and in a flash we can be brought down. My people please stop this nonsense about island people this and island people that, we cannot do all of it in our own, we also need their services so let us spread love and not hate. There’s a God above that looks down and he knows or heart and he sees everything. Our ignorance is destroying us. STOP IT PLEASE.

They work for the money and they can send it wherever they please. But they should be made to pay a fee to send money out of the Country. There are other ways for them to send money home or receive money, open up a Pay Pal or cash App account.

Just imagine we are not out of the woods with COVID-19 and people are being so negative towards each other, now i can see why God allowed us to be going through this.

I pray we remember God sits high and looking down low. Gods blessing on our souls.

This world does not belong to us and, SURELY, the BVI does not belong to you. Just passing through for a very brief stay. Display loving kindness and forgiveness so that your country may not perish. PEACE AND LOVE.

The food boxes was the straw that broke the camels back. The people from down Island took advantage gouging up to 4 or more boxes then have the gall to brag about how it was easy. So many people was denied a box because of the bad behavior. That is why they are getting roasted on line.
