Health Minister Hon Carvin Malone attends 37TH COHSOD Meeting

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Carvin Malone (AL) led a delegation to the 37th Meeting of the Council of Human and Social Development (COHSOD) as a health ambassador of the Virgin Islands.

The two-day meeting was held at the Headquarters of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in Washington, D.C. United States of America from September 28, 2019.

The meeting assembled decision makers and regional health officials on achieving COHSOD’s objectives. Those included receiving the preliminary Report of the Evaluation of the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA); examining the status of International Health Regulations Compliance in Member States; assessing Disease Elimination activities in the Region; evaluating the progress towards implementation of the Port-of-Spain Declaration 10 Agenda on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs); and updating on the decisions taken at the UN Special Session on Universal Health Coverage.

Health Minister Honourable Malone was accompanied by Chief Medical Officer, Dr Irad Potter.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development aspires to provide a caring and integrated system of health and social services that facilitates human development and quality of life in the Virgin Islands.
