‘Have General Election now’ - Carvin Malone
The most recent call came from businessman and senior consultant to the Opposition Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Carvin Malone, who was on Tuesday July 3, 2018 speaking on the radio programme Honestly Speaking.
The former President of the VIP said when asked by the programme host Claude O. Skelton Cline when an election should be held, he answered in no uncertain terms: “Immediately…Now.”
NDP accountable to no one
Mr. Malone proffered an argument that we were experiencing a National Emergency. He stated that “the National Democratic Party Government continues to miss constitutional dates to ensure proper financial accountability, proper audited financial statements that can be held up in the sunshine and transparency and accountability for several projects that’s running millions of dollars.”
Just yesterday July 4, 2018, Opposition Member Hon Julian Fraser RA, (R3) while fighting for residents in his district over the water issues, told a local radio station that Premier Smith must admit the “government has collapsed and have become useless in addressing the needs of residents.”
Where is the Governor?
Mr. Malone also blasted the United Kingdom appointed Governor Augustus A. U. Jaspert and noted, “if our Governor is found to be wanting in keeping in line with his constitutional duties, he too is subject to being recalled.”
The businessman further stated, “Every post in our constitution needs to work and that’s not happening.”
