Harrigan-Scott takes sprint double in Belgium

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- 2006 and 2010 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games 100m champion, Tahesia G. Harrigan-Scott opted out of the AP Invitational in Guyana yesterday, June 18, 2016 to compete in Nivelles, Belgium where she took a sprint double.

Rio Olympics bound Harrigan-Scott won the 100m in 11.39 and the 200m 23.39.

Karene King, also of the Virgin Islands, placed second in the 100M in 11.85 and 3rd in the 200m in 23.96.

Meanwhile, 2014 CAC gold medallist Chantel E. Malone won the long Jump at the US Olympic Training Centre in Chula Vista, California with a leap of 6.48m.

And in Guyana, Ashley N. Kelly, who has also qualified for the Rio Olympics, took second in the 400m at the AP Invitational.

Kelly ran 53.24s to follow home Guyana's Kadecia Baird who won in 52.26 seconds. Aliyah Abrams (Guyana 53.53s) was third, Kineke Alexander (St Vincent 53.63s) fourth, Paris Garcia (Puerto Rico 54.39s) fifth, Samantha Edwards (Antigua 54.76s) sixth, Melissia Caddle (Guyana 54.83s) seventh and Claire Moody (Ireland 55.93s) eighth.

Kelly placed fourth in the 200m, which was won by Brenessa Thompson of Guyana in 23.08 seconds.
