WEST END, Tortola, VI – The person arrested following an operation between the Joint Task Force and law enforcement authorities from the US Virgin Islands yesterday, April 11, 2021, has been charged.

The operation resulted in the recovery of some 453kg of cocaine from waters in the Sir Francis Drake Channel.

Olicity Lans, 24, of Hannah Estate has been charged with importation of drugs, being concerned in the supply of drugs and possession of a controlled drug, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) stated on April 12, 2021.

Lans was reportedly the captain of the vessel that led law enforcement authorities on a high-speed boat chase that started outside of territorial waters.

The vessel was subsequently beached at Fort Recovery.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Magistrate’s Court at the next available sitting.

This is all about the US Coast guard, if not it would have been another safe entry... Dont understand why local law endorcement are worrying about credit,... . Its team work lead by the US coast Guard and i think the US coast Guard decided to take charge because they have seen the failures on our end....

They would need permission and cooperation from the UK.

For obvious reasons the BVI government is not involved.

Note that the VI has not published photos of the faces of these purveyors of massive amounts of illegal and. International drugs.

just for information: there have been joint operations between law enforcement in the USVI & BVI for many years maybe over 40 years: with the advent of social media this operation got more publicity: the BVI is probably one of the closest jurisdictions to the US; Its about a mile between the channel of st john and frenchman cay therefore the US cost guard patrol the waters. those guys being set up and self dont know. just looking at the videos one can conclude that move was a covert operation...there is a treaty between england & america from 1972(wake up and live)

Got to be cause sorry to say white people never get caught up but we know who loves the coke US & Europe drug of choice.

See now if we had cannabis bill maybe these people thirsty for wealth would see better more wholesome legal options and y’all get more community involvement to solve crimes when people don’t fear police for a little herb.

Caribbean people not about them processed chemicals.

But we’re not working with a full deck to figure out how to mold society.

From not locking doors at night to not being safe with all this action. But still the police force grows larger. If you need help stop criminalizing the people simple.

Where there is no vision the people perish.

I shouldn’t say that though because it falls on the governor & UK now. The government reps have voted, the VI people have spoken.

What are we waiting on??? Easy fix for many social issues, and an improvement to the tourism & hospitality package.

I guess we wait until everyone else does it after they get the head start and we don’t seem special for it before we are allowed to reap the benefits. Mean while the people are exposed to black market products and young mostly black people continue to get records.

Waiting on the amendment to the drugs control act too. These things are no excuse to hold it up if anything it should be motivation to improve the economy.

soa young guy who lives at Hannahs estate owns a centre consol boat with 3 outboards worth in excessive of $250,000 and he is a drug dealer? What are the chances?

It only takes about 6 years at $ 200 a day and zero expenses to save $ 250k, so if he was diligent, hard working, and thrifty, he could theoretically have saved the money for the boat, though it’s alleged use for ill-advised drug running now means he’s lost the money he spent years savings.

Working for $20 per hour, 40 hours a week would get you to about $250k in 6 years. With zero expenses. Hard to believe this would be attainable by an 18 year old who obviously loves his toys.
