ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Twenty-three-year-old Guyanese native Damian Hooper, who is facing firearm and ammunition charges before the court, is now facing an additional charge of Breach of Curfew.

Hooper and his co-accused Corey Butler of St Vincent and the Grenadines were jointly charged with two offences, Carrying a Firearm without a License and Unlawful Possession of Explosives on April 28, 2020, and were each granted bail in the sum of $55,000.

Butler was also charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Drug from the same incident.

When the pair appeared for the second time in court on Thursday, June 18, 2020, Magistrate Christilyn Benjamin informed Hooper that he was facing the new charge.

The magistrate said Hooper allegedly committed the offence on April 15, 2020, while the Virgin Islands was under a 24-hour curfew. He was found in Huntums Ghut in a public place, she said.

Meantime, proceedings against the men could not proceed any further, because there was no disclosure by the Director of Public Prosecution’s Office to the defendant’s lawyers.

Due to this, the men were unable to enter a plea, and the matter was adjourned to September 24, 2020.

In the meantime, Hooper, who was also charged with Driving a Vehicle without Third Party Insurance and Driving Without a Driver’s License, pleaded guilty and will be sentenced on the same date, September 24, 2020.

I strongly believe if you come to a man country to make a better life for you and to help the country move forward and you turned criminal you should be deported as soon as you finish doing your time .In other countries if you are not from there and you are seen associating with known criminals, you will be deported.
    TORTOLA TOO SLACK.

You are not from America, you are caught in a crime, you serve your time, on the day of your release, the US Marshals will pick you up from prison and escort the person on the flight back to their homeland. The people that gets deported from the US is mostly Guyanese, Jamacians, Trinidadians, Dominicans and Mexicans.

You and I are on the same page. If you live in another man’s Country and you break the laws, I don’t care what Country or Island you are from you should be escorted out of the Country to your original homeland.
