SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- Reports from residents in the area of Nibbs Estate, in the area of the Roger A. Hodge Park in Sea Cows Bay, on Tortola are that sometime after 9:00 PM last night March 17, 2017 gunshots were heard.

It is unknown at this time what was being shot at or if there was a gun battle or just someone playing around with a firearm.

Many persons who heard the shots called our newsroom to report what they had heard and we directed them to call the police. It is our understanding that police were called and had gone out to investigate around the area, including close to Ellis Thomas Downs.

The Virgin Islands people are on edge with gun crime on the rise and out of control. Thus far in 2017 two men have been killed as a result of guns. On Friday March 10, 2017 Ashburn A. Dawson, 30, of Carrot Bay was gunned down in Road Town.

In January of this year Frankie J. Fahie was shot at a bar he operated in Long Look and later died.
