ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Placing local telecommunications services under the spotlight, Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) said the Government, along with the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC), has discussed ways to ramp up enforcement when it comes to better delivery of service from local internet providers.

The Premier made the statement today, July 14, 2020, during at update on the local financial services sector, where he noted that amidst the COVID-19 era, the sector continues to progress through the provision of scheduled services and use of online technology solutions.

"Whilst all that is good news, I am aware that many of you reported telecommunication related challenges whilst working remotely. Indeed, in order to successfully roll out many of the online solutions... we too relied heavily on our telecommunications sector," Premier Fahie said.

Decline in service quality expected - Premier

According to the Premier, whilst a decline in the quality of service would have been expected due to greater demands for internet, Hon Fahie indicated that government recognises 'well-intended criticisms and assertions' that the local telecommunications sector still has room for improvement.

"To this end, my Government has already discussed with the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, amongst other things, the need to ramp up measuring and enforcing service level standards amongst our telecommunications service providers."

Currently, the VI's telecommunications services sector is dominated by three providers, Digicel, Flow and CCT Global Communications.

Hon Fahie indicated that due to COVID-19, regular meetings continue to be held at Cabinet level, with the aim of discussing matters pertaining to the success of the VI economy.

Buffoon if Flow goes then BVI has not telecom service. Because all calls coming to BVI come through FLOW fiberoptic lines.

So when are the outrageous prices going to drop to be more in line with other countries? Soon I am going to quit the internet because I need food more. Gave up my post paid phone owning to the high price of that service, so internet is next to go. Meanwhile, SS is giving money to everyone but still paying seniors who paid in, less than they can possibly live on. Why bother to pay SS in at all. Listen folks, do not expect to live on SS, it is a joke.

SS was set up tp help cover food & rent for the elderly, not internet (which is not deemed as essential!).

So all BVI Government announcements are coming on the internet. When the SS was set up and I started paying in I don't think there was an internet. Help cover? I paid in max and it is not enough, what about those who paid in minimum? Internet is too expensive in the BVI, as the Royal Marines said after Irma, BVI internet is the worst and most expensive in the world.

Look out people ,this is the smart tatic of bringing in 5G because the mission from the powers that be is to have the combination of COVID-19 , 5G and the Chip 666. Mission to control the world population. Quote from the Bible " My people perish for the lack of knowledge".

Digicel service is poor and very expensive. Paying for unlimited data plan and can't even stream two devices, and has dust fall you can't get service until after 10 @ nites until 5 in the afternoon.

If one looks at the advertising of the internet service providers (ISP) they say speeds up to #### What should be required is a guaranteed MINIMUM speed. If they can’t provide a decent speed bring in some competition that can. Stop being nice. Yes I know some of the big locals have a vested unethical interest in the present providers —- to bad
