Gov't following manifesto plans, says Hon. Vanterpool
Minister for Communications and Works, Hon. Mark Vanterpool, told this news site that those changes, plans and projects are all a part of the ideas enlisted in the National Democratic Party’s manifesto, prior to the elections.
Hon. Vanterpool made this statement in an exclusive interview with this news site at a press conference for the introduction of the infrastructure rehabilitation project, that was introduced yesterday, July 30, 2012.
“We are following our plans that were listed in our manifesto for the different areas around the Virgin Islands, and it’s never a matter of what’s next but each area we deal with, especially under my Ministry we are beginning to put our plans into place.”
Minister Vanterpool pointed to the issue of addressing the sewage situation in the Territory and stated, “in the area of water and sewerage we are currently executing a programme in East End and Road Town.”
He added that in accordance with the manifesto, his Ministry is also in the middle of the Crafts Alive project, “which will solve the problems with the tents over at the cruise ship dock. We are going to move those in the next month or two and move all the people into the Craft Alive village.”
He added that the Rehabilitation Project, that is designed to fix the problems of the territory that were caused by a catastrophic storm back in 2010, is also a part of the manifesto’s projects that were to be initiated.
