ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Governor of the Virgin Islands, His Excellency John S. Duncan OBE has told this news site through his staff that he could not grant an interview even after inviting us to submit questions beforehand.

Last week this news site made contact with the Governor’s Office advising that it was desirous of having an interview done with the Governor.

Upon receiving that request, the Governor’s staff asked this news site for a preview of the questions to be asked in order for a date to be fixed for the interview.

“Before I approach him, you will need to give me some detail on what you want to interview him about,” said Maria Mays of the Governor’s Office on April 9, 2015 via email.

This news site then furnished the Governor’s office with a detailed list of the questions that we had intended to ask of the Governor during the interview.

The list of questions was acknowledged as being received by the Governor’s Office with the advice that the Governor had a busy schedule but that they would get back to us regarding the date and time for the interview.

Not at this time

However, following an email reminder on the part of this news site to the Governor’s Office yesterday April 14, 2015, we received an email saying that the Governor was unable to grant an interview at this time and that they will advise if that position changes.

“Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Unfortunately the Governor is not able to grant an interview at the moment. I will get back to you if that changes,” said an email from the Governor’s Office yesterday.

The Governor had granted this news site an interview in November 2014 during which he had answered a host of questions on varying issues.

It is baffling to this news site why it was that the Governor’s Office would ask for a list of questions so that an interview could be arranged and then revert saying that an interview cannot be granted, even after this news site followed the requested protocol for the arranging of such interviews.

On his arrival last year, Mr Duncan had granted an interview to selected media houses and this news site was not invited to be a part of it.

Why does he need to be furnished with questions before? So he can say which questions should be removed from the list or so that his answers can be rehearsed? UTTER STUPIDNESS!!
