Governor keeps 'injecting' himself into local politics - Skelton-Cline
"He was somewhere, the Governor comes back... and immediately I'm sitting there and [there is] a press release where the Governor is basically repeating the same thing our Premier and Minister of Health shared with us," Skelton-Cline said on the Tuesday, August 18, 2020 edition of the Honestly Speaking show.
Gov Jaspert under fire
Skelton-Cline further lambasted the Governor for allegedly encroaching on the responsibilities of Premier Andrew A. Fahie (R1) and Hon Carvin Malone (AL), two democratically elected members of Government empowered by the constitution.
"Why is the Governor continually coming to the public, which to me... continues to inject himself in the local politics and telling us what our Premier and Minister of Finance, have already shared with us three days before," Skelton-Cline questioned.
He continued, "Why is this seemingly, to me, this continued push to insert the office of the Governor and this particular Governor and himself into the local politics... these responsibilities have been devolved to the Minister and once the minister has spoken, that should be it."
Skelton-Cline's contention is that there should be no need for the Governor to regurgitate information already provided to the public.
Mingling in local affairs?
"What is it? You think we don't understand? Do you think that what the Premier tell us we not going to believe? I don't get it," he said.
In the past, political pundits as well as House of Assembly (HoA) member, Hon Mark H. Vanterpool (R4), have all accused Governor Jaspert of mingling in the affairs of local government and attempting to intimidate VI's elected leaders.
"I want to invite the Governor to this table and to share with us what is the motivation behind some of the things that he continues to do in this country," Skelton-Cline said.

you are a racist d*ck
The Governor of the British Virgin Islands is appointed by and represents Her Majesty The Queen. The Governor is the representative of Her Majesty The Queen in the Territory and the Constitutional Head of State; and represents the Territory’s interests to Her Majesty’s Government in London.
The Governor is responsible for maintaining peace, order and good governance. He is also de facto head of the public service, oversees the administration of the courts and chairs Cabinet meetings. He is responsible directly to the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs.
It’s just not right it’s call racism
