SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- Good Prospecting found a slight competition from East End Tap but stayed on course for victory and Triple Crown qualification when the annual Boxing Day horse race card was held yesterday December 26, 2011 at Thomas Ellis Downs.

Despite the absence of the usual St. Thomas rivalry, the issues of cash prize and Triple Crown qualification were still on the cards and it was Good Prospecting who would take the spoils.

East End Tap showed some competition when it actually took a narrow lead before Good Prospecting began to pull away to win by a handsome margin.

Good Prospecting has now qualified for the Triple Crown, scheduled to start January 15, 2012 in Tortola.

Earlier, Spirit on Fire took victory in the opening race of the day while Northern Pike beat Mick G in the race that followed.

The competition in race # 3 was between Glorious Memory and Tiger's Mischief. It was even-Stephens for nearly a lap but Glorious Memory upped the pace and sprinted unchallenged to victory.

Race # 4 was between Broken Home and Lake Texoma. Broken Home proved to be the horse with the stronger kick as Lake Texoma faded on the homestretch.

The races yesterday saw a decent crowd despite the non-showing of the St. Thomas horses.

According to outgoing President of the Virgin Islands Horse Owners' Association, Derrick "Aruba" Marshall the neighbouring Territory indicated that difficulties with transportation were encountered.

To Killer: you must be one of the out-going committee members. Mr. Smith does not have to prove anything as he has started to upgrade horse racing by the presentation of the track. You people are playing too much politics here in the BVI. There is a new committee filled with ideas not a one man committee. My feeling is that you are the same young lady who was removed that cant stop talking - Its time to move on.....
