ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Magistrate Ayanna Baptiste-Dabreo told a woman who appeared before the Magistrate’s Court, that she should go after the man next time after she was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend when she found them together in bed.

Eleanor King pleaded not guilty after being charged with Common Assault when she appeared before the Magistrate’s Court today, May 30, 2014. She was unrepresented at the time.

According to the allegations King went to the home of her boyfriend in Huntums Ghut at 2AM on February 15, 2014 where she met him and the Virtual Complainant (VC) asleep together in bed. The man shares a child with the VC who is his ex-girlfriend.

She approached the bed and became enraged after which she allegedly dealt the VC several blows to the right side of her face as she lay in bed. The man then awoke and subsequently led the defendant out of the bedroom. The defendant left the residence shortly after.

The VC then made a report at the Road Town Police Station shortly after the incident where it was observed that there was some amount of swelling to her face.

She was issued a medical form and treated by a doctor at the Peebles Hospital for abrasions to her left forearm and swelling below her left eye and small haemorrhage to her right hand side.

The defendant was spoken to in at the Road Town Police Station where she stated that she assaulted the VC because the VC assaulted her first.

On February 26, the VC made certain indications to officers and a charge of Common Assault was made against King.

She will next make an appearance on September 4, 2014 before the court for the continuation of her matter.

What kind of advise is that? Would you dismiss the charges if she took your instructions and assaulted her boyfriend next time?

There would have been no need because the matter probably would not have gone to court. Can you imagine big man going to complain to police that his girl friend beat him up? And her reason? I don't think so. At least not in Tola!!!

Well that's not her boyfriend if she's going to his house at 2am meeting him asleep with his child mother. The magistrate is right and I don't think she meant hit the boyfriend, but 'go after him', meaning deal with him on that matter, not the woman. She and the woman in a relationship? What she put her hand on the woman fah.

Only in the BVI. The magistrate is clearly promoting domestic violence. When she go after the man and he appear before her for assault then what ?

The Judge is not promoting domestic violence. What she is clearly saying is that King should have taken up the issue. The man wanted the woman there, that is why she was there. King made a fool of herself. So you simple people stop the nonsense about the Judge promoting domestic violence.. Only women who don't have any common sense think that they have to deal with the other woman. Come on Girls get a Grip !!!!!!!!

If you find a woman in your lovers bed then you should realize that the man has no love for you. What you should be angry about is not knowing you were wasting your time with a guy who cares so little about you that he carries on a sexual relationship with another woman. Maybe two or three other woman as well. It is going on all over Tortola. The men are sleeping around, carrying on with multiple women and lying to them all. It is sad that the women think so little of themselves that they hope to win out and be the one and only. Sadder too that they fight off the other women when you are all victims of lousy, good for nothing, selfish men. Why do you want a man like that? Get a life, respect yourselves. If a man can't give you undivided love then don't chase him or fight for him. Put yourself on the pedestal he refuses to put you on. Go buy yourself a battery operated boyfriend and go forth be happy and enjoy your life. Don't waste another moment of your life chasing a man that doesn't want you for anything more than sex on the off days he's not fooling around with somebody else. You'll never be the winner in that crazy game.

"Go after the man"? Magistrate, are you implying she would've been in less trouble if she had beaten up the man instead? The law really doesn't have any love for us guys... smh
