BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI – At Large candidate for the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Irene F. Penn-O’Neal called on voters of the Sixth District to give the party’s candidates their votes as the party is one they could trust – having integrity and a record of development in the country, unlike the alternatives.

She was speaking last evening May 20, 2015 at the VIP meeting in Baughers Bay, Tortola, for which Elvis ‘Juggy’ Harrigan was the featured speaker being the VIP’s candidate for the Sixth District at the polls on June 8, 2015.

Focus on the elderly

Penn-o'Neal said the VIP has been the leader in policies that take care of the elderly and not just when it is politically convenient. She said the majority of the home care programmes for the seniors and many other programmes were done and carried out under the Virgin Islands Party government.

“Our Virgin Islands Party team programmes and strategies to continue the work it started and when you elect us…we will implement them,” she said.

She said the Virgin Islands Party Government will protect the income of the elderly by updating the social security, Government pensions and Government grants.

CPI to be gauged for cost of living

“We will use the consumer price index (CPI) to ensure that your income stays with the cost of living,” she said to loud applause, adding that the VIP will do surveys on the elderly to find out what their needs are.

She said too that the Government will provide the means and opportunity to allow the elderly to participate more in community development.

The former legislator also said that all of the primary healthcare providers will be adequately trained to ensure that they can deal with those issues.

Guarding seniors against cybercrime

According to Penn-O'Neal, the VIP will ensure that seniors are safe within their homes by educating them about the different types of crime that could be committed against them whether via the internet or from persons invading their homes.

“Finally ladies and gentlemen, when you elect the Virgin Islands Party we will recognise the contribution of our seniors to our country. We will fulfil our obligations to them as your elected Government through award ceremonies,” she said.

“On June 8, 2015, make no mistake…I want each and every one of you here presently…to go out and vote team Virgin Islands Party all the way!”

Ronnie does not want to be in government plus he and Dr. D Smith are sick. So... That only leaves Myron who truly can and wants to be in politics

Well look a joke for me here today. Last time I checked, the dictionary defined integrity as adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.
