VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI – The début appearance of six of seven girls that are set to contest this year’s Miss Gorgeous and Miss Easter Festival was one with a difference as it was held at the Rock Café at Valley Virgin Gorda last night March 23, 2014.
Previously set to be launch on Saturday night March 22, 2014 the young women met a large cross section of their supporters for the first time last night on a night that was made perfect with the usual mix style karaoke and after party.
As the girls entered the Rock Café amidst a sizable crowed there was much evidence that the two pageants are going to be well supported. Whistles and shouts of ‘wow, oh yea, rock the house girl’ filled the room and they became the centre of attraction for approximately one hour as they were introduced.
The contestants' names and numbers for Miss Virgin Gorda Easter Festival are:
1.Lakiesha Claxton
2.Tecora Morgan
3. Shereen George (absent from last night’s introduction).
4. Shaila Stevens
The contestants' names and numbers for Miss Gorgeous are:
1. Sharlene David
2. Donalin Michel
3. Sasha McKie
The Miss Gorgeous and Miss Easter Festival pageants are set for April 5 and 12, 2014 respectively. The young women would be competition for, among other things, an overseas trip for two and an academic scholarship.
The girls were not prompt in showing up for the 8:00pm scheduled appearance, however their fans were well on time and did not fail to make good use of what was a promising night for some karaoke singing.
Among those fans was 5 year old Solae Mark daughter of the Marcus "Young Blood" Mark of the hardcore band and student of the Bregado Flax Educational Centre.
Persons were scattered on the premises of Rock Café, some in the main area, the tree house and other surrounding areas close by but as soon as that little innocent powerful voice of Solae took to the microphone everyone came rushing in to verify if it was indeed a child singing.
There was no flaw in her performance as she did a song for which many professionals sometimes struggle with the main notes, ‘This girl is on fire’. According to one of her aunts while they knew she had the traits of her father, it was her first public appearance and especially in such a setting. She is also the niece of Martino ‘Tino’ Mark.
Her bravery also made it easier for a few parents who were struggling to convince their children to take the microphone to step forward and add to the flavour of the night.
Also rocking the night was ‘Tino’ himself and his dad Mr Morris Mark Snr. As for her dad Marcus he was in much delight to see his girl make her début she became his dancing partner until it was time for her to head on home to bed for school today.

First off, pageant make up should stand out under bright lights. I do see some girls with their make up/foundation a bit on the light side, but that would be to their fault, if it's a foundation they are using on a regular/daily basis.
Sometimes the flash of the camera may make your makeup seem lighter than what it is.
Also, it is two shows, combining both shows and saying this one look the best she should win, she can't win both shows..duhh
There is never an article that people can just have positive comments and encourage the ladies and some of the same ones posting negative comments can never have the guts to go in front a crowd and compete, especially in swimwear etc...it's sad!
