Giant Valley, My Pal Shawn & Call Daddy to face off in June 5 races
The showdown for the day, race five, will be the feature race which will see Governor’s Cup winner Giant Valley, owned by Top Priority Racing Stables, coming against My Pal Shawn, owned by Family Affair Racing Stables, and Call Daddy, owned by Alliance Point Stables of St Thomas, for a purse of $5,000.
Race one will be a six and a half furlong race for Class E horses and will feature Gottocha Bob, owned by Mission House Stables of Tortola, Sir Whiskey, owned by The Boys Stables, and L&B Thunder, owned by L&B Racing Stables.
Race two will be a seven furlong race for Class D horses and will see competing Meddling Birdie, owned by Mission House Stables, Yes By Eric, owned by The Boys Stables, Buy Buy Buy, owned by 284 Racing Stables, Mark it a Wynn, owned by One Time For One Time Stables, and Go Pancho Go, owned by 7 A’s Racing Stables.
Race three is a seven furlong race for Classes B and C horses and will feature Atarrante, owned by 284 Racing Stables, Big Meow, owned by Notorious Housing, Untie the Knot, owned by KRF Stable of St Thomas, and Returning Rock, owned by One Time For One Time Stables.
Race four is a seven furlong race for Classes A and B horses and will feature Explosive Image, owned by KRF Stable of St Thomas, Honors, owned by Family Affair Stables, Bellamy Chief, owned by Top Priority Racing Stables and Brass Note, owned by Crystal Serrano of St Thomas.
Audi car to be raffled
President of the Virgin Islands Horse Owners’ Association Patsy C. Lake said persons could expect a day of good competition and the chance to win an Audi car which will be up for raffle.
“We have reduced the entrance fee so that they can come with their pockets full to purchase the raffle tickets for the Audi which will be on display. The cost to come in is $10 for adults, reduced from $15, and $5 for children. Tickets for the raffle are $25 and it will be drawing on August 2, 2016,” she said.
“This is the last set of races before the big races in August so people need to come out and enjoy themselves.”
Local horse owner Lesmore Smith said he is confident in his horses Giant Valley and Bellamy Chief doing well in their respective races. “As usual I am going out there to have fun and win the races. As you know these two horse won in St Thomas. So I hope to hold the same record until I get to the Premier's Cup in August,” he said.
Trainer for The Boys Stables Enos Z. Aaron said he expects the best from Sir Whiskey and Yes By Eric. “I expect two wins,” he said.
