ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - As new and improved technology is introduced, the prices of the products and services provided by that technology is raised. Entertainers in the Caribbean are tirelessly faced with this problem, where everyone wants to make it and be famous, but to get money you must have money.

Paul ‘Gadiethz’ Peart, singer, producer, manager and DJ in Tortola, in realising the ridiculous cost of filming and producing a music video in the Virgin Islands (VI) took it upon himself and found other means of introducing a quality shot and edited music video.

After producing and releasing a single earlier this year called ‘My Life’ which was aired on several local radio stations in the VI, and the reaction to the song, Peart decided to push the song to the next level.

He said that the people of the Virgin Islands gave their full support for the song and the video and he is grateful.

“The grass root support is very strong because it talks about day to day challenges within every one’s life no matter rich or poor. ‘My life’ is a song that would complement the day to day struggles in the VI”.

In an exclusive interview with Gadiethz, he explained that he initiated an idea he had, which was to tape and edit a music video using his Apple Iphone. He added that his idea was successful and is a historical achievement in the Virgin Islands.

“I think it’s the first video that has ever been publicised through an Iphone and I just want to propel that.”

In relation to the 3 minutes 51 seconds video, he said not once was it transferred from his phone to a computer for any alterations.

Peart stated that editing the video was not a hard task seeing that he had the help of several applications he downloaded. “I downloaded some apps on the phone to aid me in producing the video and that’s all I needed.”

He said many people don’t know what the Iphones are capable of and they need to be aware. “The Iphone is very equipped to deal with certain technological things that are out there such as shooting videos and voicing.”

He added that he uses his phone for all his radio work, where he does interviews because the sound quality is exceptional as well as doing features for his YouTube channel or his Morning Ride show on ZRod.

According to Peart, the general cost of producing a music video in the VI is said to be around $3500. He said when compared to the cost of his video, he saved $3200.

He stated that the quality of the video that was taped on the Iphone, when compared to regular music videos is no different. In light of this, he stated that the Iphone is capable of doing more things than a computer.

Gadiethz promotes the use of Apple Iphones and other alternative methods. He added that this is a new time where things are rapidly advancing.

“I think in an age of technology like this, people need to start thinking out the box and by us thinking out the box, other ways and means which is usually adopted in the music industry could be adopted by alternative and cheaper methods.”

He encourages the young and upcoming artists in the VI to think outside the box and be unique.

Gadiethz advises them to go through life with an open mind in anything they do, and learn to humble themselves and everything would be ok.
