ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Two Digicel executives continued their company’s ‘Get Gifted’ campaign for Christmas on Thursday afternoon, December 15, 2016 when they presented the Family Support Network (FSN) with several non-perishable items, from which families in the community will benefit.

Digicel PR and Sponsorship Executive Katasha Melville and Corporate Accounts Executive Bernice Magloire, made the presentation to FSN Executive Director and Counselor Dr Sylvia M. Simmonds, at the agency’s headquarters.

We’re so happy to be here to support the Family Support Network as we give the gift of food this Christmas,” Melville said. “We’re glad to include FSN as part of our campaign to ensure that children across the territory have food this Christmas.”

Speaking on behalf of the board of directors and staff, Dr Simmonds thanked Digicel for its contribution, noting that they have fed over 2,000 persons for the year, which hasn’t yet ended.

“Food is a primary concern and counseling is a major issue also,” Dr Simmonds noted. “We do feed a lot of families, but again, counseling, providing services to our clients regarding housing is also critical. We do have a lot of persons who are down and out.”

Dr Simmonds added that one of the big issues is child maintenance because they are not getting it.

“Mothers aren’t able to provide for themselves or their children. Domestic violence doesn’t take a break, and because it doesn’t take a break, we know that a lot of women and children will suffer significantly because of it. We thank Digicel for this contribution because we know, someone will have a decent meal this Christmas.”
