ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Fender benders on a Friday afternoon seem to be the norm these days and this Friday January 25, 2013 was no different as there were two accidents in quick succession.

The first took place on Main Street at the bottom of Joe’s Hill around 4:30 P.M. between two vehicles, one allegedly belonging to local businessman Bolo Crabbe.

Both vehicles, one of which carried number plate PB 45, just seemed to have merely grazed each other and the damage seemed minimal.

And as police were busy taking statements and measurements at the scene of that accident, there were reports of another accident in the vicinity of the Elmore Stoutt High School and High Court building.

This accident reportedly involved a taxi with license plate numbers 802 and a car with license plate number PV 21497.

Motorists were forced to either drive on the walkway to continue on their way or test their driving skills by going between the narrow space of the two vehicles involved in the accident.

The car received some damage to the right back passenger door while it was not clear what damage the other vehicle sustained.

And as the police were delayed, a student of the ESHS took it upon himself to control traffic which continued to build up.

There were no injuries reported in both accidents but motorists may need to take extra care on the roadways on a Friday afternoon it seems to avoid the ‘fender bender jinx’.

Until drivers on our roads drive within the traffic rules, instead of trying to bore through traffic and be courteous to other drivers on the road these silly minor accidents will continue to happen. Take for instance Wickhams Cay 2 from Bobby's to Scotia Bank? Everyone in a hurry and using the in road by the taxi stand as a shortcut, they do not even wait for you to give them a space, the bolting through and you who coming up or down have to stop abruptly, so if you not careful you hit the person in front, these always in a hurry drivers are a nusiance on the roads especially these associations Taxi drivers .
