Free Bottom man faces burglary charges

JOHN’S HOLE, Tortola, VI - Brad Smart, of Free Bottom, Tortola, has been arrested and charged for Burglary and will appear at the Magistrate’s Court at John’s Hole next month, February 22, 2019, having been granted bail by the Police.

According to police reports Smart was charged with the offence on Friday, January 4, 2019.

Meanwhile Police on Wednesday January 9, 2019, arrested and charged Shakeem Dore, of Carrot Bay, for assault causing actual bodily harm. 

He too was granted Police Bail and is to appear at the Magistrate’s Court at John’s Hole, on February 20, 2019, to answer to the charges.

Jerome Nibbs of Hope Hill was also arrested and charged for inflicting grievous bodily harm. 

He has been granted Police Bail and is to appear before the Magistrate’s at John’s Hole on January 18, 2019.

According to reports, on New Year’s Day, Police arrested and charged Carol G. Schoonhoven, of Hannah’s Estate, for Obstructing a Police Officer in the execution of his lawful duty and Indecent Language.  

Schoonhoven was granted Police Bail and is to appear at the Magistrate’s Court, to answer the charges on February 1, 2019.

    How can people who've "inflicted grievous bodily harm" and "caused actual bodily harm" be granted Police Bail and allowed to stay on the streets? Isn't this putting the safety of the community at actual risk?

        I do not think that the police grant bail but it is the magistrate or judge.
