‘Fraser feels he is entitled to D3 votes’ – Hon Walwyn
These were the words of the embattled leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP 1) Hon Myron V. Walwyn (Al) at their rally in the third district last night, February 21, 2019, as he and other candidates lobbied voters to instead choose the NDP’s Aaron F. Parillon and their At-Large team.
Fraser tired – Walwyn
“Now this District has been represented by the same person for the last 20 years. There is nothing inherently wrong with that… I have heard a saying that how long is too long if it is good,” Hon Walwyn told those gathered.
“So the question you must ask, is whether keeping him is really good and serving to advance your interests. After 20 years, he may very well be getting a bit tired… The rough and tumble of political life takes a toll on the fittest of us after a while. As the good book reminds us, there is a time and season for everything and if I may add everyone under the sun,” Hon Walwyn added.
He further uttered that voters must also consider that persons who have held any office for such a long time, sometimes begin to take things for granted, “Interestingly by an amazing comment the sitting representative made during this campaign, it seems he somehow believes he has become entitled to your vote,” Mr Walwyn said.
Logical Conclusion
According to the NDP Chairman, there is a logical conclusion that can be drawn by Hon Fraser telling the people of District 3, “not to be ungrateful by not voting for him... Needless to say, it is a most unfortunate comment,” he said.
Mr Walwyn urged to people to give his candidate Mr Parillion a chance, “He walks with you, talks with you, understands your needs and is capable of giving you effective representation. So, I ask you, give him your vote and give him the opportunity to really make a difference for District 3.”
