Four VI players chosen to continue Digicel/NBA experience
The announcement was made by Troy Justice of the NBA International Organisation and it received visible appreciation and cheering from amongst the 60 participants.
The VI ballers selected are Shauliqua Fahie, Mahkayla Pickering, Demoi Bradey and Omar Walker.
VI players’ reaction
It's awesome, I worked hard for the three days and I’m glad I got chosen," commented Fahie. "I always had confidence in myself, knew what I could do and that no one can match that."
Pickering agreed that it had been hard work, but said she felt amazing and was looking forward to going to New York
I'm extremely happy right now," commented Walker. "I worked really really hard for this and deserved to be chosen. I wasn’t worried though as I was ranked amongst the top players in my position of centre."
Walker also won the Free Throw competition and Pickering the 3 point Shoot Out.
NBA champs impressed & inspired
During the closing ceremony, Skylar K. Diggins, two time WNBA All Star, said all the participants had been an inspiration to her and that they all should go home and be an inspiration to younger people, adding that basketball was like an ATM machine in that you only get out what you put in.
Seven time NBA Championship winner Robert K. Horry said he had been impressed with the passion, enthusiasm and emotion on show and hoped each player would go home and expand on their experience, whilst former NBA Coach, Lionel E. Hollins extolled everyone to keep giving back to the game and for those not chosen not to be too disappointed, but use it as motivation.
