Former Prosecutor Sarah A. Benjamin appointed Deputy Registrar
The appointment was made effective on January 8, 2014. Benjamin earned her Post Graduate Degree in Law from the College of Law, UK and was also a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, London.
She previously served as a Crown Counsel within the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions from 2007-2012 before being promoted to Senior Crown Counsel.
As Senior Crown Counsel, Benjamin conducted trials both at the High Court and Magistrate’s Court levels and also facilitated legal assistance requests from other jurisdictions in addition to other roles.
The Sea Cows Bay resident joined the public service in 2004 and first served as a Court Clerk before later working as a part-time Lecturer at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.
As Deputy Registrar, Ms. Benjamin will be responsible for processing applications for probates and administration of estates, assisting with Court of Appeal and High Court sittings, attending to service of foreign process, and attending to matrimonial matters, among other duties.
The position was previously held by Mr. Kendell Mills.
