ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Brother of the Leader of the Opposition Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3), Earl Fraser was fined $250 and made to pay for damages of $1,275 after having been found guilty of driving without due care and attention resulting in an accident in 2013.

This was revealed on Friday July 24, 2015 at the Magistrate's Court at John’s Hole where Fraser, himself a former legislator, appeared.

According to Principal Magistrate Tamia N. Richards, failure to pay the fine and the compensation meant he would have been taken to Her Majesty’s Prison at Balsam Ghut.

The accident resulted in damage to another road user’s vehicle and hence the compensatory damages in the amount of $1,275. Further particulars of the accident were not revealed in court.

According to the Magistrate, failure to pay the fine of $250 meant that Fraser could spend 30 days in prison.

Further, failure to pay the compensation by August 24, 2015 could result in him being slapped with a two-month jail sentence, the Magistrate disclosed.

Is this the first such case? So many have injured people for life and a case was not even made after a report was made. The injured had to try on their own and that was that.

So why shouldn't he have to pay for damages to someone else vehicle regardless if he was former or present legislator. If he was man enough he would have settled it and not let it go to court.
