VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI – Kicking off the 2015 edition of the Virgin Gorda Easter Festival weekend yesterday April 4, 2015 was the Food and Fungi Fest which saw a large turnout of tourists and residents alike.

Numerous stalls carrying food for sale, clothing, craft and other items were set up early in the day but the action really got underway sometime after 1.00 pm. The official start time had been 10.00 am. When this news site got to the venue for the start time, persons were still setting up stalls, not unlike what had occurred last year.

The musical entertainment began with the legendary Razor Blades sponsored by Digicel. Many persons were seen moving to the sounds of the invigorating fungi music.

Persons were also flocking to get a taste of all of the goodies on offer as they ordered food which had those present busy in preparing replenishments.

Further, as an added feature, members of the popular automobile enthusiasts Street Kings lit up the event with their decibel pounding sound system in their cars.

One woman who was selling there said that while it was still early, she was hoping that the crowd builds up. She said that her sales have been good nonetheless.

“My name is Jackie Marks and I have accessories such as fashion jewellery camouflage headbands and other pieces and beauty supplies,” she said. “Sales have been pretty good so far,” she said.

One nearby boutique owner had a flurry of visitors to her business and she said that sales were better.

This news site observed customers streaming in and out of the various business places and making purchases as they sought to outfit themselves for the show later that night featuring Tarrus Riley out of Jamaica.

Don`t blame government if the organizers didn't put things in place to attract people. Then again you can blame the government because the organizers were hand picked by them.
