BEEF ISLAND, VI – With increasing concerns about air worthy aircrafts and the spiraling accidents in this sector, note was taken of an aircraft allegedly belonging to Fly BVI making an emergency landing earlier today, January 3, 2014 with one engine working.

Our reliable and authentic source said that at approximately 11:40 a.m., the aircraft which was being flown by one Mr. Jeff Brown, was allegedly forced to make the emergency landing and head straight onto the slings in the workshop at the Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport for emergency remedial works.

“From my observations there was no passengers on board and that was a very good thing but having to fly in with one operational engine on an aircraft is a major problem that warrants immediate urgent attention,” said the source.

Contacted for further confirmation, the officer responding to calls at the Fly BVI office confirmed that both Mr. Jeff Brown and Mr. Steve Pelletier were out flying. The operator said that she was not aware of a problem.

Contact was also made with the BVI Airport Authority (BVIAA) Managing Director Mr. Denniston S. Fraser who said that he was not aware of the problem. He explained that in such cases the aircraft goes directly to the slings in the mechanic shop and the information is not necessarily immediately made available to him.

He however transferred this news site to another line for confirmation, but we were told that they were too busy at the time to give any comment and they couldn’t immediately contact Mr. Fraser for confirmation to release the information.

Any twin-engine plane can safely land with one engine. Every pilot is tranined to do that. Some of you might remember when in the eightees Capt. Lynton Wheatley landed AIR BVI's DC3 safely WITH passengers on it, after he LOST one propeller!!!

I witnessed that same thing with Cape Air a month ago.. The aircraft was powering up to take off then the engines died down. They powered up again, then it died down!! It was scary. Then I saw the plane return to the apron and passengers came off. Then I knew it was something sinister.

This only shows to me the wonderful skills of the pilots we are blessed to have. It seems Mr. Brown acted professionally and with great skill. This is something that should be praised. It also shows that the current facility at a Beef Island is not only adequate for our needs, but properly manned and professionally managed. There are obviously jealous competitors lurking around the airfield with nothing better to do than cast aspersions and make sinister remarks. Shame on you.
