ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Calling it a problem that was “personal,” Leader of the Opposition Hon Julian Fraser RA has slammed telecommunications company FLOW, saying it is offering shoddy service to the people and don’t seem to want to fix the issues, especially relating to internet service.

Speaking under Any Other Business in the House of Assembly today, September 23, 2016, Hon Fraser recalled that it was on December 21, 2015 that he went to the House of Assembly and complained about his internet service from FLOW. “And who told me to do that Madam Speaker. It is one of the biggest mistakes I ever made because throughout the whole holiday season I was without internet service completely.”

Hon Fraser further said since July, a telephone that he has in his House has not worked. Another phone that he has at his office, he said, is now giving troubles with his voicemail service.

“You call this 800 number and they tell you they gonna call you back and you still waiting for them to call you back. Nothing is being done…When they trying to do something they falling over you coming in to your house checking this and checking that and whatever and nothing gets fixed.”

Raping the VI

Hon Fraser said he is not of the view that FLOW can’t fix these problems. “I think what the problem is, Madam Speaker, is that they are taking us for granted. They got bigger fish to fry. All them house lines or landlines they couldn’t be bothered with this.”

The Opposition Leader noted that roads continue to be cut and dug up for FLOW to “bury their cable to transmit communications from Tortola to Jamaica, The Bahamas, to the rest of the world. This Virgin Islands is a hub for Cable and Wireless Madam Speaker. They are raping the country, our people. And then they turn around and give us shoddy service.”

Hon Fraser called on the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) to look into the matter.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8), the Junior Minister for Trade and Investment Promotion.

According to Hon Penn, there is a need to find a way to hold the telecommunications companies accountable so that people can get the service they pay for.

“There is no reason why we should be getting substandard service, especially broadband service in the BVI at this point in our development.”

Hon Penn called on the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) to do their job and look into the various practices by the companies and ensure that customers get value for their money.

Yes indeed, had to cut flow loose with the internet and go to CCT and love the steady service. Lime people would come, say it is the line, go on the line and do something and put in a report that problem fixed. Thing was they never asked me and the problem was not fixed and you had to start that call around the islands to talk to customer service for an appointment Get'um Julian.

Might say they all confused / bewildered that the multinational carriers won't invest the money necessary to kill off the local provider. They just can't accept that CCT is the best!!!!!!!!!

Flow is the only bill that I pay that leave me feeling like an ass everything. Why am I paying over $120 each month for 3mbps while others with 4 times my speed paying only $114. Until Superfast is available everywhere they need to lower the prices for those that stuck with super slow.

It's about time someone brings this issue to the forefront about this money- grabbing, Ponzi- like scheme of an industry.

At times the service is so bad, it appears that cavemen and cowboys had more privileged means of communication.

LIME, LAME, whatever...FLOW needs to go!

With all the complaints about LIME/FLOW over the years I have to wonder if TRC who is aware of these complaints realize that they should do something. TRC ain't acting right with this one at all. You have a provider charging a killing for a service they are not delivering and TRC is doing what - NOTHING! I thought they were to be the "watch dogs". Poor mankind. TRC you going need investigating next.

It's our government. straight up. They are pushing all out for locals who don't have conscience, don't care about us. Just focus on getting rich through greed. Why government don't let the Rite way selling deal go through so prices can come down? Why government don't give Digicel the chance to bid to buy Cable TV instead of flow? We get service for our Money.

Isn't flow suppose to buy out cable TV and gave us all in one service.. How nice that sounds. We need that all in one service badly. We are so behind. We must be one or two islands in the Caribbean that don't have that. If that's true. That seems like disaster..

you go to their office/store. very uncomfortable unwelcoming they are. time to cut that one off.

Cable &Wireless, Lime or Flow is 6 of one or half a dozen of the same. The same poor customer service, regardless of the name. Like LIAT, Cable and Wireless had a monopoly in the region and they exploited customers to the hilt. It took competition for them to start lowering prices. Guy Malone needs to crack the whip and get the telecommunication communication companies in line. Customers needs to get high quality services they are paying for.

Flow can't provide the service we paying for. When you go to their store the staff act like you begging and treat their customer like shit. Disconnect the service and they holding on to your deposit like they don't want to give it back.

It is only clear that all these types of businesses need competition and I say strong competition. Flow, Liat and others as they rape us it is only fair aanother company come on streaam and rape them and if that company does the same another one will surely takes its place.God dont give us more than we can bear and it is up to us at times to just dont use their services. for example the initial hook up of internet by flow was something i could have afford but after a year it has double. all this and more is just bull$hitIt is no wonder we continue to suufer and then come out and say that they are for the poor but the poor just cant take no more.
