ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- There were lots of camera action and the usual “oohs and aahs” when the freshly graduated students of the Elmore Stoutt High School rolled up at the Multi-Purpose Complex, Road Town, for Prom Night on June 29, 2013.

And of course there were those who waited outside the venue to catch a glimpse of the fashion choices of the students as well as their ‘prom dates’.

There were long lines of traffic on Station Road as the former high school students took their time to disembark their rides especially when it was a luxury vehicle such as a Limousine or Hummer.

Prom, short for promenade, is a formal black tie dance or gathering of high school students close to the end of their senior year. It is a time where graduates and their parents ensure that what they wear on this night is a ‘trendsetter’ or ‘showstopper’.

Virgin Islands News online was able to get a few pictures of some of the recently graduated students as they took their five minutes of fame on the red carpet at the Multi-Purpose Complex.

They may not have graduated, but they were invited by boys that graduated; so put that in your pipe and smoke it with your jealous self.

As I read these comments, I am truly disappointed.... especially "this is it"... I think it is admirable that those with the biggest smiles, albeit they were not successful, still wore those smiles and came out........it takes a lot for a person to face a crowd even themselves after they have failed............. and as their keynote speaker said " it is not about the destination but the journey" and this is a learning experience in its self...so to all those who were successful or not!!! kudos to you all it is not an easy world out there, and by these comments you can see.... so stay bright stand tall!!! and forge on!!!!

The first pic....five beautiful girls, two graduates, three failures. Hope the young ladies that failed put as much effort into eventually getting their high school diploma, as they did in getting all dolled up for the prom!!!

Tortola people are very small minded so what they failed? They are still apart of the class of 2013... so they had all right to go to THEIR PROM... did you pay for their dress or ticket?
    • hummm (01/07/2013, 23:21) Like (7) Dislike (5) Reply
Actually I don't think someone who didn't graduate can be considered part of the class of 2013. No I didn't pay for any of the dresses or the tickets but that's a no brainer cause I would neva condone nonsense. Anyways, like I said before, I just hope they get their act together and get their diplomas soon.....they will then really have something to dress up and smile for the camera for.
